Yes. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) published a Class 1 recall warning on October 3, 2026, for specific packages of Taeyangcho Gochujang (Hot Pepper Paste) because they contain wheat that is not declared on the label. The warning covers listed products distributed in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan—not every gochujang product or every Taeyangcho product.
Which Taeyangcho gochujang packages are recalled?
Check the package size and UPC against the CFIA list. For each listed size, the affected product codes are “All codes where wheat is not declared on the label.”

The notice identifies distribution in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. It does not establish that the product was distributed elsewhere. The recall was issued by HYMS Trading Ltd. The CFIA notice is identified as RA-82728 and CFIA ID 17587. Read the CFIA recall warning.
Why is the product being recalled?
The affected paste contains wheat that is not declared on its label. CFIA classifies the hazard under wheat and gluten allergens. This is an undeclared-allergen warning, not a notice that all gochujang is unsafe.

Who should not eat it?
People with a wheat allergy or sensitivity, and people with celiac disease or other gluten-related disorders, should not consume the affected packages. CFIA warns that reactions may be serious or life-threatening.
What should you do if you have one?
- Do not eat or serve the affected product.
- Do not sell or distribute it.
- Throw it out or return it to the location where it was purchased, as CFIA advises.
What is known about the investigation?
The warning says the recall followed a consumer complaint and that no reactions associated with the product had been reported as of the October 3, 2026 publication and update. CFIA said it was investigating and verifying that the industry had removed the product from the marketplace. The agency noted that the investigation could lead to further recalls.
