T-Mobile opened its Starlink-powered satellite messaging beta to AT&T and Verizon customers on February 9, 2025—but that was a dated beta announcement, not a newly opened offer. T-Mobile’s current name for the service is T-Satellite. Its product page lists a limited-time price of $10 per month per line for non-T-Mobile customers; eligible T-Mobile plans include the service.
Can AT&T and Verizon customers use T-Satellite?
Yes. T-Mobile’s current product page says non-T-Mobile customers can enroll in T-Satellite, including customers of AT&T and Verizon. The cross-carrier beta opening was announced on February 9, 2025, with free beta access described through July of that year; that historical beta window is distinct from today’s paid offer.
In the announcement, T-Mobile CEO Mike Sievert cautioned, “We’re still in the early days — I don’t want to overhype the experience during a beta test — but we’re officially putting ‘no bars’ on notice.” The quote referred to the beta, not a promise of uninterrupted service. T-Mobile’s current product page lists T-Satellite for non-T-Mobile customers at a limited-time $10 per month per line. T-Mobile customers on its Experience Beyond 2.0 and Better Value plans have the service included; other T-Mobile customers can add it for the same listed limited-time per-line price. Because the offer can change, confirm the current terms on T-Mobile’s T-Satellite page before enrolling.

Will your phone work?
T-Mobile says most smartphones from the last four years work with T-Satellite, but that general guidance does not guarantee every model, carrier variant, or software configuration is supported. Check the company’s current device eligibility list for your exact phone before signing up. You do not necessarily need a new phone if your existing device is eligible.
What can you do with satellite service?
T-Mobile describes messaging, location sharing, selected satellite-ready apps, and WhatsApp voice chat. Supported messaging includes SMS, MMS, and RCS. App functionality is selective and optimized for satellite use rather than equivalent to ordinary high-speed cellular data. T-Mobile says an enrolled, eligible phone connects automatically to a satellite when regular service is unavailable; it does not require a settings change.

Where is T-Satellite available, and what are its limits?
T-Mobile lists the continental United States, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, parts of southern Alaska, and a growing number of countries abroad. This is not a guarantee of reception at every point in those areas. Check the live coverage map for a specific location.

Messages may take longer, and connections can have gaps or timeouts as a phone connects or moves between satellites. Terrain, location, coverage, and network conditions can affect whether a connection succeeds, so T-Satellite is best understood as a way to stay connected for supported tasks when standard service is unavailable—not as a replacement for a fast, continuous cellular or broadband connection.

What T-Mobile said about the beta’s reach
In its February 2025 announcement, T-Mobile said more than 500,000 square miles of the country were unreached by carrier earth-bound cell towers. That was the company’s description of the coverage gap motivating the beta, not an independently verified measurement of T-Satellite coverage. The announcement also described the beta as free through July 2025; it should not be confused with the current paid pricing.
