The reported post-price-hike Switch 2 low is in Japan, but the available October 6, 2026 article copy does not identify the retailer or sale price. Nintendo’s official price for the Japanese-language, Japan-only console is ¥59,980, effective May 25, 2026. That gives shoppers a verified MSRP to compare against, not a verified sale price.
What is confirmed about the Japan price?
Nintendo raised the MSRP of the Japanese-language, Japan-only Switch 2 from ¥49,980 to ¥59,980, effective May 25, 2026. Nintendo said the price of the multilingual version sold through My Nintendo Store would not change in that revision. Nintendo’s price announcement is the official basis for those figures.

The October 6 report describes a new low after the price increase, but its available indexed copy does not reveal the retailer or amount. Without those details, it is not possible to calculate the discount against ¥59,980 or confirm the offer’s duration, stock, seller, or eligibility.
How do Nintendo’s other regional prices compare?
Nintendo also announced price revisions in the United States and Europe, effective September 1, 2026. The published figures use different tax conventions, so they should not be treated as directly equivalent to one another or to a Japanese checkout price.

|---|---|---|
| Japan, Japanese-language, Japan-only Switch 2 | ¥49,980 to ¥59,980 | Effective May 25, 2026; the announcement does not state a tax convention in the supplied price detail. Nintendo said the multilingual My Nintendo Store version was unchanged. |
| United States | $449.99 to $499.99 | Effective September 1, 2026; Nintendo labels US prices before tax. |
| Europe, My Nintendo Store | €469.99 to €499.99 | Effective September 1, 2026; Nintendo labels European prices tax included. |
All three changes are from Nintendo’s official announcement. A local retailer’s final price can differ because of taxes, seller, availability, and promotion terms.
Is the UK discount the same deal?
No. TechRadar reported on October 5, 2026 that Amazon UK and several other retailers were offering the console for £354.99, compared with a UK RRP of £419.99, and described that offer as matching the lowest Amazon UK price. This is a separate UK comparison, not evidence of the Japanese promotion. Price and stock can change. See TechRadar’s UK price report.
