The SweetNight CoolNest Ultra is an all-foam memory foam mattress with a slow, contouring feel. RTINGS found it a strong fit for many average-weight and heavier side sleepers, but its cooling evidence is mixed: SweetNight reports cooler surface temperatures in its own test, while RTINGS describes temperature control as very good but not great. It is not an obvious match for sleepers who want a springy surface, easy repositioning, or firmer support for dedicated back or stomach sleeping.
What the CoolNest Ultra is—and which version was evaluated
The CoolNest Ultra is an all-foam mattress, not a hybrid. SweetNight describes a five-stage cooling system made up of a Gradient Ice Silk Cover, PCMflux high-resilience foam, AirMesh breathable memory foam, ventilated gel memory foam, and 3D open-channel construction. The company also describes seven-zone support. Those are design and marketing descriptions; they do not guarantee a particular temperature or support experience for every sleeper. SweetNight’s product page claims the mattress can be “up to 11° cooler” than traditional memory foam. That is a manufacturer comparison, not an independently established result for all users.
The product page lists Queen and King sizes in 12-, 14-, and 16-inch profiles. SweetNight calls the 12-inch version Medium and the 14- and 16-inch versions Medium Plush. RTINGS describes its evaluated unit as Medium. Because those labels differ by profile and assessor, do not assume every height feels identical. RTINGS also reports a lumbar normalized stiffness measurement of 47 Pa/mm; this is a lab metric, not a consumer firmness rating.
Does it sleep cool?
There is evidence for a cooling-oriented design, but less certainty that every sleeper will feel a dramatic difference. SweetNight lists a cover Qmax of 0.25 J/(cm²·s), a measure associated with the cover’s cool-to-the-touch specification, and promotes the “up to 11° cooler” comparison. Neither figure establishes how much cooler an individual will sleep through the night.

In a July 2026 account, SweetNight says its team tested a 14-inch Queen for six weeks in a room kept around 73°F/23°C and used surface-temperature readings. The company reports that the contact area stayed cooler and that its claim was broadly supported. This is the manufacturer’s own test account, not an independent replication. SweetNight’s test description provides that context.
RTINGS’ independent assessment is more restrained: it calls temperature control very good, but not great. That makes the Ultra a plausible option for someone seeking a memory foam mattress with cooling features, not a sure fix for persistent overheating or night sweats. RTINGS’ review is the most useful counterweight to the product-page language.

How does it feel, and who is it best for?
RTINGS describes a slow-moving, enveloping foam feel. You sink into the comfort layers rather than getting a buoyant, quick response. That contour can help cushion pressure points, especially when a sleeper compresses the foam enough to engage it.

RTINGS identifies average-weight and heavier side sleepers as the strongest fit: they are more likely to sink in enough for pressure relief at the shoulder and hip. Lighter side sleepers may not compress the foam sufficiently and could feel pressure around the arm or shoulder.

Back and stomach sleepers
RTINGS considers support satisfactory for many back and stomach sleepers, but says dedicated sleepers in either position may want more support. If you strongly prefer a firmer, flatter surface, the Ultra’s hugging foam feel may not be the best match.
People who change positions
The mattress has little bounce and responds slowly, according to RTINGS. That can make repositioning feel more effortful than on a springier mattress. Its motion dissipation is a benefit for limiting partner movement, but it comes with less lively movement under your own body.

Motion isolation, edges, and durability considerations
RTINGS reports strong motion isolation, which may suit couples who are easily disturbed by a partner moving. The trade-off is low bounce and slower response, so the same foam that absorbs movement can feel restrictive to someone who moves frequently.
The review finds the edge behavior decent overall, while noting that the sides compress under pressure. That distinction matters if you often sit on the perimeter or rely on the edge when getting in and out of bed: usable edge support is not the same as a firm, unyielding side.

RTINGS also flags the lower-density transition layer as a likely durability weakness relative to the other foam layers. This is a reviewer’s assessment of a potential weak point, not a prediction of how long a particular mattress will last.
How it compares with the other CoolNest models
In RTINGS’ comparison, the Ultra is firmer and more supportive than the original CoolNest, while the base model feels plusher and more responsive. That is a trade-off rather than a universal ranking: the Ultra may suit someone seeking more support and a deeper hug, while the original may suit someone who prioritizes plushness and quicker response. The available findings do not establish that one model is better for every sleeper.
Trial and warranty terms
SweetNight’s product information states a 100-night sleep trial and a 10-year limited warranty. The company’s July 2026 account says the trial begins when the mattress is delivered and describes returns as free pickup with a full refund. These are manufacturer-published terms, so check the current policy for eligibility, exclusions, and any changes before buying. Consider it if you want an all-foam mattress with a slow, close-contouring feel, sleep mainly on your side, and value motion isolation. Average-weight and heavier side sleepers have the clearest fit in RTINGS’ evaluation. Be more cautious if you are a lighter side sleeper, sleep primarily on your back or stomach and want stronger support, or dislike a mattress that is slow to respond. Its cooling construction and manufacturer test are encouraging, but independent testing does not support treating the “up to 11° cooler” claim as a guaranteed personal result.
