Yes, the Supermicro X11SPM-TPF supports the Xeon Silver 4110, and it has two onboard 10G SFP+ ports. But the processor’s 85 W TDP does not establish the assembled server’s wall power draw, and the available figures do not verify that this specific X11SPM-TPF and SC847 build uses about 130 W. Treat 130 W as a measured result only if it was recorded on the actual system under stated conditions.

Are the X11SPM-TPF and Xeon Silver 4110 compatible?

Yes. Supermicro specifies the X11SPM-TPF as a single-socket LGA-3647 board for Intel Xeon Scalable processors, and its manual covers the Xeon 41xx series. Intel lists the Xeon Silver 4110 as an 8-core, 16-thread processor with a 2.10 GHz base frequency, up to 3.00 GHz turbo, and 85 W TDP. The board’s manufacturer-listed CPU support goes up to 165 W TDP, so the 4110 is within that stated limit. Supermicro X11SPM-TPF specifications; Supermicro motherboard manual; Intel Xeon Silver 4110 specifications.

The X11SPM-TPF’s networking is dual 10G SFP+, not 10GBase-T copper. Supermicro identifies Intel X722 and Inphi CS4227 on the product page; its manual specifies the CS4227 for the TPF model’s 10G SFP+ ports. The board’s “TPF” model should not be confused with the “TF” variant, which uses 10GBase-T ports. Supermicro X11SPM-TPF specifications; Supermicro motherboard manual.

Does the server draw 130 W?

That figure is plausible as an observation someone might make, but the available evidence does not verify it for this exact combination. No cited source reports a controlled wall-power measurement of an X11SPM-TPF with a Silver 4110 installed in an SC847. Without a reading from the assembled machine, 130 W is an estimate or an unverified report—not a confirmed specification.

Intel’s 85 W figure is processor TDP, not the AC power consumed by the whole server. It does not include the motherboard, memory, fans, storage, backplane, or power-supply conversion losses. System consumption also changes with workload and hardware activity.

ServeTheHome reported a maximum outlet reading around 100 W for its own Silver 4110 test system in a 2017 review. That result belongs to its test configuration; it does not establish a 100 W, 130 W, or other draw for this SC847 build. ServeTheHome Xeon Silver 4110 review.

Why SC847 configuration matters

SC847 is a chassis family, not one fixed build. For example, Supermicro’s SC847BA-R1K23LPB listing describes a 4U chassis with 36 hot-swap 3.5-inch bays, seven 8 cm PWM fans, and redundant 1200 W Titanium-level power supplies. Those particulars apply to that suffix only; they cannot be assumed for an unspecified SC847. Supermicro SC847BA-R1K23LPB specifications.

For a meaningful power figure, the exact hardware and measurement conditions matter. Drive count and activity, memory population, fan speed, PSU model, connected network links, and workload can all affect the reading. A server with many installed drives and multiple fans is not directly comparable to a minimal CPU test setup.

How to verify a 130 W reading

  1. Measure at the AC outlet. Use a plug-in wall power meter if you want the complete server’s input draw. A CPU TDP value or software-reported processor power is not the same measurement.
  2. Identify the configuration. Record the full SC847 suffix, PSU model, number of connected redundant supplies, installed and active drive count, DIMM population, fan settings, and network connections.
  3. Record the operating state. Note whether the reading is idle or under a defined sustained workload. If drives are present, distinguish ordinary operation from a drive spin-up event.
  4. Report the conditions with the number. State the measured watts, measurement location, system configuration, and operating state together. A bare “130 W” cannot tell readers whether it is idle, typical, or peak draw.
