The Sunbeam Café Series EM7000 is a discontinued semi-automatic espresso machine, not a current new-product recommendation. Its documented specifications include a 58 mm group head, twin thermoblocks, a 3 L water tank and stated 15 bar pressure. Those figures describe the machine, not independently verified coffee quality: CHOICE’s public page lists the model and its specifications but keeps its expert rating and detailed test results behind membership.
What the EM7000 is—and what its review evidence establishes
CHOICE classifies the EM7000 as a semi-automatic espresso machine and marks it as a discontinued model. Its page displays a price of $899, but does not establish that as a current asking price or transaction price. Sunbeam’s brochure supplies manufacturer specifications and feature claims. CHOICE independently lists several of the machine’s specifications, but neither the brochure nor the publicly accessible CHOICE page justifies treating the pressure rating or heating arrangement as a guarantee of espresso quality.

Sunbeam says the machine can texture milk and extract espresso simultaneously, and describes a temperature-sensing steam wand with a temperature gauge. CHOICE also lists a separate hot-water nozzle, removable drip tray with a full indicator, cup-warming plate, removable water tank and cord storage. These are practical convenience features; the public listing does not establish how they perform in use.
What comes in the box
CHOICE lists the following included items: group handle; single-wall one- and two-cup filters; coffee tamp and measuring spoon; cleaning disc and pin; anti-calc water filter; milk-frothing jug; and literature. Check the exact contents when buying a used or remaining-stock machine, since a second-hand package may be incomplete.

Maintenance, cleaning and descaling
The instruction booklet covers first-use preparation, coffee preparation, milk texturing, care and cleaning. It also describes a coffee thermoblock cleaning cycle and descaling procedures for both the coffee and steam thermoblocks. Repairing a discontinued EM7000
Sunbeam’s June 14, 2012 service manual identifies replacement assemblies including drip tray assembly EM70002, water tank assembly EM70003, steam arm assembly EM70005 and thermoblock assembly EM70027. The manual cautions that not all parts are available as spare parts and directs readers to check the price list. Because the model is discontinued, confirm the exact model, part number, compatibility, current stock and seller before ordering; the manual is not evidence of present-day availability. Is the EM7000 worth considering now?
It may suit someone specifically seeking this model on the used or remaining-stock market and willing to verify condition, accessories and repair support. The available public evidence is not enough to recommend it as a new purchase on comparative performance: CHOICE’s detailed test results are not publicly displayed, and no current asking price or stock was established. Treat the $899 figure on CHOICE’s page as a listed reference, not a present-day valuation.
When comparing it with another machine, useful documented axes include machine type, group-head size, heating system, temperature control, tank capacity, stated pressure, filter type, milk workflow, included accessories, dimensions, weight, and verified current price and availability. Sunbeam’s own brochure includes a comparison chart, but its comparisons remain manufacturer-provided; do not substitute them for independently accessible test results.
