To use a SUBE card in Argentina, buy a physical card through an official online purchase channel or at a SUBE Point, add value, then—if you loaded it electronically—accredit that load to the card before travelling. You can check the card directly with an NFC-enabled Android phone or at a SUBE Automatic Terminal; account and web records may take longer to update.
What the SUBE card pays for
SUBE is a transport fare card accepted on buses, subways, trains, metrobuses, trolleybuses and some boat services. Argentina.gob.ar’s official FAQ describes coverage in 61 localities, but that figure is not a guarantee that every route or service accepts SUBE. Check the official information for your destination and service before relying on the card: Argentina.gob.ar SUBE information.
Where to buy a SUBE card
Argentina.gob.ar lists an online purchase route and in-person sales at SUBE Points. Use the official SUBE Point locator to find a nearby location, or follow the purchase link from the official SUBE site. The listed card price can change, so check the current amount through the official channel or at the point of sale rather than relying on an older displayed price.

Buying value through an app or another payment channel does not by itself put spendable value on that card; electronic loads may need a separate accreditation step.
#1 Best Overall
- Card is in Certified Mint+ condition, or better, sealed in an air-tight customized holder using a sonic welding system
- This amazing card is part of a limited production run
- Sealing protects the card from handling, shaking, water, light, drops and more, essentially locking in the condition forever
- Since we may have more than one of this item in stock, our listings use a sample image of an item in the same condition
- Every card is reviewed by the Certified Mint+ team and only the best are encapsulated
How to load and accredit the card
You can add value electronically through the SUBE app, digital wallets, home banking or ATMs, or load in person at a SUBE Point. For an electronic load, place the payment/load order first, then accredit it to the physical card. Until accreditation, the new amount may remain pending rather than available to pay fares.
Choose a way to accredit an electronic load
| Method | What you need | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| SUBE app | Android 6 or later with NFC | In the app, choose “Acreditá o consultá saldo,” then “Ver saldo,” and hold the card against the back of the phone. |
| Carga a Bordo | A participating bus operating in a locality where the service is available | Ask the driver to accredit the pending load. Availability varies by locality; do not assume it is offered on every bus. |
| SUBE Automatic Terminal | Access to a terminal | Tap the card at the terminal to accredit the pending load. |
These options and steps are from Argentina.gob.ar’s guide published July 22, 2026: official instructions for loading and accrediting SUBE. The app accreditation flow described there requires Android NFC; an iPhone is not a substitute for that particular method. If you do not have a compatible phone, use a participating bus where available or a SUBE Automatic Terminal.

Know the published load limits
Argentina.gob.ar’s July 22, 2026 guide states a maximum electronic load of ARS 30,000 per operation and a maximum stored physical-card balance of ARS 40,000. These peso-denominated limits can change, so confirm them on the current official guide before loading. If an attempted load would exceed the card’s maximum stored balance, the guide says the excess remains pending until you spend enough balance to make room.
How to check your SUBE balance
For a direct reading of the physical card, use the SUBE app’s NFC balance check on a compatible Android phone, or tap the card at a SUBE Automatic Terminal. These methods check the card itself, which is useful when you need to know whether a recent load is available to spend.

Other official options include the Mi SUBE web account, telephone and in-person SUBE service. Web and account records can lag: Argentina.gob.ar’s FAQ says web balance information updates within 24 hours, while the Mi SUBE service page says balance and trip information update every 72 hours. Because the official pages give different intervals, treat online history as potentially delayed rather than assuming a single refresh time. The FAQ also states that balance does not expire, using the wording “El saldo no tiene vencimiento y va a estar disponible cuando vuelvas a viajar” (“The balance does not expire and will be available when you travel again”): Argentina.gob.ar SUBE FAQ.

Argentina.gob.ar recommends creating an account to help protect the balance if a card is lost, stolen or broken, review travel history and discounts, and manage the card online. A government guide describes registration using the SUBE number, personal details, email validation, and a finalization step at a terminal or with an Android NFC phone: official SUBE registration guidance.

If you want the account protections or online features, check with current SUBE help channels about your specific documents before depending on registration.
