Stuart Skinner stopped 26 shots in his first regular-season appearance for Winnipeg, but the Jets lost their 2026-27 season opener 4-3 to the Boston Bruins in overtime on October 2, 2026. JJ Peterka scored the winner 3:21 into overtime at Canada Life Centre.

Skinner’s numbers in his Jets debut
Skinner made 26 saves in his first regular-season start for Winnipeg, according to NHL.com’s game recap. Boston recorded 30 shots on goal, per the official box score. Those totals mean Skinner allowed four goals on 30 shots; the resulting save percentage is .867, calculated from the reported figures.
The game was Winnipeg’s home and season opener. Skinner’s debut refers to his first regular-season appearance for the Jets, not his first time playing for the club; he had appeared for Winnipeg in preseason coverage. The change was notable because Connor Hellebuyck was not starting in goal for the opener, as the Winnipeg Jets recap noted.
