For an India-based Flutter app, the first question is not which provider has the lowest headline rate. It is whether you can get onboarded and whether your customers’ payment methods are supported. As of early October 2026, Stripe has the strictest gate. Its India FAQ says businesses must request an invite and cannot sign up for a new Indian account through the website, and its India support page says local payment methods are unsupported. Razorpay and Cashfree both publish official Flutter integration routes, so they are the providers to evaluate first for most India-focused apps. Stripe is worth pursuing only if you already hold an invitation or your business fits the international-expansion focus Stripe describes.
Side-by-side view
The table shows what each provider’s published material states for an India-based account. “Not stated in the provider material checked” means the detail was not found in that material, so it must be confirmed directly with the provider.

Stripe: an invitation gate and narrower payment methods
Access
Stripe’s India FAQ says businesses must request an invite and cannot sign up for a new Indian account through the website. It describes the focus as businesses with international expansion. If you do not already have an invitation, plan your build around Razorpay or Cashfree and treat Stripe as a possible later addition rather than a launch dependency.

- Cards: Visa, Mastercard (including Maestro) and American Express, subject to the restrictions listed on the India support page.
- Local payment methods: not supported on India accounts.
- Wallets: Google Pay and Apple Pay are unavailable for merchants and customers in India on Stripe Checkout and Elements.
- Entity types: the page lists supported entity types and certain excluded entities. Check your company structure against it before applying.
These restrictions describe India accounts. Do not assume they carry over to Stripe accounts set up in other countries.

Pricing
The India pricing page lists 2% for cards issued in India and 3% for cards issued outside India on its standard page, and states that standard pricing has no setup or monthly fees. Further rates depend on payment method and transaction type, so the headline pair is not your effective rate. Pricing pages change, so read the live page and your merchant agreement before quoting a figure to a client or putting it in a financial model.
Razorpay: an official Flutter wrapper and a UPI change to check
Flutter integration
Razorpay publishes razorpay_flutter, a Flutter wrapper around its Android and iOS SDKs. The official repository includes installation guidance and lists platform requirements for both Android and iOS. Confirm the current package version and minimum Android and iOS versions in the live repository and the package registry before you start.
The UPI Collect deprecation
Razorpay’s Flutter custom payment-method documentation states: “According to NPCI guidelines, the UPI Collect flow is being deprecated effective 28 February 2026.” The sentence is the documentation’s own wording and does not attribute the statement to a named individual. That date is now in the past, so treat UPI Collect as a flow to replace rather than extend. Confirm which UPI flow Razorpay currently supports and which NPCI guidance applies to your use case.

Cashfree: mode-based pricing and a conditional new-merchant offer
Flutter integration
Cashfree’s integration overview lists Flutter among its app checkout integrations. The same overview also lists hosted checkout, mobile SDK, API and no-code paths, so you can pick the model that fits your server architecture and compliance requirements. The current Flutter package version, minimum Android and iOS versions, and server-side payment verification flow were not established in the material checked for this article. Read Cashfree’s Flutter integration guide before estimating build effort.
Pricing and the new-merchant offer
Cashfree’s Payment Gateway Charges page shows a 1.95% platform fee for listed payment modes (accessed 2026). Charges are mode-specific, so read the row for each payment method you plan to accept. The page also describes a new-merchant offer with its own terms, including an activation and KYC requirement and a cumulative transaction threshold. The offer is time-limited and depends on eligibility, so do not treat it as the standard rate or assume your account qualifies. Confirm current pricing and GST treatment with Cashfree in writing.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Compare fees on your own payment mix
The headline figures cannot be compared as they stand. Stripe’s 2% and 3% are card rates split by issuing country, while Cashfree’s 1.95% is a platform fee for listed payment modes. The fair comparison runs the same monthly volume through each provider’s current rate for each method.
- Split your payment volume by method: cards issued in India, cards issued outside India, UPI, and any other method you plan to offer.
- For each provider, take the current rate for each method from its live pricing page or merchant agreement. Note whether each rate is a percentage, a flat fee, or both.
- Calculate the fee for each method and sum the month’s total. Add GST only where the provider’s terms say it applies to that fee.
- Add refund and chargeback charges from your merchant terms, not from marketing pages.
- Exclude time-limited promotional rates from the base case. Model them separately, and only if your account is eligible and the offer period covers your launch.
Illustration only: ₹10,000 of card payments at 2% produces a ₹200 fee before GST and any other charges. The same ₹10,000 at 3% produces ₹300. This shows the arithmetic, not a quote from any provider.
Build checklist before you commit
- Stripe: confirm your invitation status. A Stripe Flutter integration path for India accounts was not confirmed, so check Stripe’s current mobile documentation before planning an integration.
- Razorpay: confirm the razorpay_flutter version and platform minimums in the live repository and package registry.
- Cashfree: read the Flutter guide for the package version, platform minimums and server-side verification steps.
- All providers: run a complete test payment in each provider’s test mode, covering success, failure and refund paths, on real Android and iOS devices.
What published material cannot settle yet
Settlement timing, refund fees, support quality and payment success rates affect your cost and customer experience most directly, yet none is published in a form that lets you compare all three providers side by side. Treat any claim about them as unverified until the provider confirms it for your account. Ask each provider in writing:
Quick Recap
- What is the settlement cycle for my account, and does it differ by payment method?
- Which refund and chargeback fees are charged to me, and in what cases?
- What success rate applies to my payment mix, and how is it measured?
- Which support channels are available during my launch window?
Which provider to test first
- If you cannot get a Stripe invitation, remove Stripe from the shortlist and compare Razorpay and Cashfree.
- If Google Pay or Apple Pay must work on Stripe Checkout or Elements, that is excluded for India accounts, so Stripe is not your India route for that flow.
- If UPI Collect is central to your checkout, put Razorpay’s deprecation notice at the top of your integration review and identify its replacement. Confirm the UPI flows Cashfree supports in the same way.
- If Razorpay and Cashfree both remain, build a thin prototype with each, compare fees for your payment mix, and choose the provider with the lower effective cost and fewer open questions in its Flutter integration.
