When did StormFiber say internet service would be restored?
In a statement reported by Dawn on October 24, 2025, StormFiber said it expected to fully recover lost capacity by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, October 27. The date has passed, so this should be read as a historical target, not a current restoration schedule.
The company said it had already restored more than 60 percent of affected capacity by procuring and activating bandwidth on alternate cables. That percentage was StormFiber’s own reported figure, not an independently measured service-restoration statistic.

Why was StormFiber slow in October 2025?
StormFiber attributed intermittent slowdowns and evening peak-time congestion to multiple regional submarine cable outages. The company said the PEACE cable was cut in the Red Sea near Sudan at about 5:30 p.m. on October 20, 2025. These details were reported as the provider’s account, not as independently verified findings.

StormFiber said it was adding capacity and rerouting traffic, with newly procured bandwidth coming online through the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong. It also said activations would be staged, so some customers might notice improvement before the October 27 target. The PEACE cable was the system the company identified as cut; the UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong were routes it named for additional capacity.
Was Pakistan’s internet disruption caused by a submarine cable—or AWS?
Reports captured different explanations during the disruption. StormFiber blamed cable outages, while IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja initially attributed the broader disruption to a global Amazon Web Services shutdown. Some users also said their ISP had blamed cable damage. The contemporaneous coverage did not establish one settled, independent diagnosis: it reported that the PTA, IT ministry, and affected ISPs had not initially made a public acknowledgment.

News reports describe PTCL, Cybernet, and TransWorld Associates as operators of submarine cable systems landing in Pakistan. They identify PTCL’s AAE-1, SEA-ME-WE 4, and IMEWE systems, and report that StormFiber/Cybernet had procured alternate capacity that included the PEACE cable. These details provide context but do not independently confirm the cause of every customer’s slowdown.
Did StormFiber restore internet by Monday?
