If your LG TV keeps jumping to an HDMI input without a remote command, turn off SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC) first. Then, if the problem continues, turn off Quick Start+ and delete the TV’s connection history if that option is available. LG says these settings and their menu paths vary by model and webOS version.
Why an LG TV can switch inputs by itself
A connected set-top box, soundbar, game console, or other HDMI device can signal the TV to change inputs through SIMPLINK, LG’s name for HDMI-CEC. A device may send that signal even while it is in standby. LG also identifies temporarily incorrect saved connection information as a possible cause; these are possible explanations, not a diagnosis of every TV.
SIMPLINK enables control between connected products over HDMI. Turning it off is a useful first isolation step, but may also disable HDMI control features for external devices. See LG’s HDMI-CEC guide for more about the feature.

Where practical, make one change at a time and check whether the switching stops before moving on. That makes it easier to identify which setting affects the behavior.

1. Turn off SIMPLINK (HDMI-CEC)
Open the HDMI settings that match your TV’s webOS generation, then turn SIMPLINK off. LG lists these paths:
- webOS 26 and later: Settings → All Settings → System → External Devices → HDMI Settings.
- webOS 6.0 and later, including webOS 23: Settings → All Settings → General → External Devices → HDMI Settings.
Menu groupings can differ on earlier versions and by model. If you cannot find the setting, use LG’s input-switching guidance for version-specific directions rather than assuming a path is universal.

2. Turn off Quick Start+
LG says Quick Start+ can leave the TV in standby rather than fully off. Turning it off lets the TV shut down completely and may reduce incorrect input detection. The location varies by webOS version; LG lists these examples:
- webOS 26: System → Additional Settings.
- webOS 23: General → System → Additional Settings.
- webOS 6: General → Devices → TV Management.
Look for Quick Start+ within the matching menu. LG provides other paths for earlier versions in its input-switching guide.

3. Delete connection history if available
LG says clearing connection history resets saved device and network data, which can help the TV recognize connected devices correctly. The option is listed under System → External Devices on webOS 26 and later, and General → External Devices on webOS 6 and later. Menu names and availability may vary.

If the behavior continues after these steps, contact LG support through its chatbot or request a technician visit, as LG recommends. The separate LG guide to a TV turning on by itself addresses a different symptom; input switching alone does not establish that the TV is powering on unexpectedly.

LG’s directions are for standard models, and the company cautions that menu content may vary. For an exact click-by-click path, identify your TV model or webOS version. The steps above address switching to HDMI without a remote command; if you mean a different behavior by “back to TV,” first check which input is selected and when the change occurs.
