defillama-go is a Go client for DefiLlama’s Free and Pro APIs. Instead of assembling endpoint URLs and issuing each request yourself, you can use the package’s service methods, pass a context, and—when needed—supply a custom HTTP client. Its documentation lists 132 GET operations across 21 services in the package’s pinned OpenAPI snapshot; that count describes the snapshot, not independently verified parity with every live DefiLlama endpoint.
What defillama-go covers
The package describes itself as a small, idiomatic Go client for DefiLlama data. Its listed areas include protocol TVL, token prices, yields, stablecoins, fees, bridges, real-world assets, and equities. The project’s documentation says its included OpenAPI snapshot maps 132 GET operations: 31 Free and 101 Pro, grouped through 21 services. See the defillama-go documentation for the operation map.
Those numbers are the package’s description of its pinned specification. They do not establish that every operation matches the current live API, or that all operations remain available under the same access tier. Before building against a particular method, check both the package’s operation map and DefiLlama’s current API documentation.

How to use the Go client
The package is published as github.com/tigusigalpa/defillama-go. A typical integration follows this pattern: install the module, create a client, then call the service method for the data you need. Consult the package documentation for current method names and response types; the endpoint inventory is broader than any single example can represent.
#1 Best Overall
- Add the module: run
go get github.com/tigusigalpa/defillama-goin your Go module. - Create the client: use the package’s documented constructor,
New. The documentation says constructing the client makes no network request. - Choose the service method: find the operation in the package’s service and method documentation, and confirm whether it is Free or Pro.
- Pass a context: network methods accept
context.Context, allowing the calling application to set cancellation and deadlines. - Handle the result and error: check errors before using returned data, and apply the application’s own logging and retry policy.
The exact method signature and response structure depend on the operation. Use the package’s documentation for those details rather than assuming that every endpoint accepts the same arguments or returns a common shape.
Free and Pro access: check the tier before coding
The SDK documents both Free and Pro operations, but a Go method does not itself confer access to a paid endpoint. Confirm the required tier for each operation in the package’s map and DefiLlama’s current service documentation. The package’s 31 Free and 101 Pro figures refer to its included snapshot, not a permanent allocation or a statement about current plan entitlements.
DefiLlama’s API documentation also lists TypeScript/JavaScript and Python SDKs and describes an MCP option that requires an API plan. The repository DefiLlama/api-sdk identifies itself as the official TypeScript/JavaScript SDK. defillama-go is a separately documented Go client; the available documentation does not identify it as an official DefiLlama SDK.
Pro API keys and URL handling
According to the package documentation, Pro requests put the key in the URL path, using the form https://pro-api.llama.fi/{API_KEY}/<endpoint path>, rather than an HTTP header or query parameter. The package says it escapes the key as a path segment and redacts it from URLs and error diagnostics. It also documents a ProAPIKeyRequiredError when a key is missing, before it builds or sends a request.
Rank #3
A key in a URL path still deserves careful operational handling: URLs may be captured by application logs, proxies, tracing systems, or error reporting. Review what your own infrastructure records, avoid logging sensitive request details, and verify DefiLlama’s current authentication requirements before deployment. Do not assume another client’s header-based authentication model applies here.
Transport, contexts, and concurrent use
The package documentation says the runtime uses only Go’s standard library and allows callers to provide an *http.Client. That gives an application a way to configure transport behavior such as timeouts, proxy settings, or tracing through its own HTTP setup. Network methods accept context.Context, and the documentation says one client can be shared across goroutines. These are documented design properties, not independent performance or concurrency test results.
Choose a timeout and cancellation strategy appropriate to the calling application. If you inject a customized HTTP client, its transport and timeout settings become part of the request behavior; consult Go’s net/http documentation and the SDK’s constructor guidance for the exact configuration supported.

A client library is most useful when the package already maps the operation you need and its request, response, and error behavior fits your application. Compare it with direct HTTP calls or another language client on the details that affect implementation:
Best Value
- Go Programming Language Developers and Programmers will love this design.
- Go Logo for software engineers who like to work in Golang Programming Language.
- Lightweight, Classic fit, Double-needle sleeve and bottom hem
- Endpoint coverage: Is the operation in the current package map, and does its method expose the parameters and response fields your application needs?
- Access tier: Is the operation Free or Pro under the current service documentation, and does your account have the necessary access?
- Control over requests: Do the available contexts and custom HTTP client support your timeout, proxy, transport, and tracing requirements?
- Credential and diagnostics behavior: Does the URL-path key format and the package’s redaction behavior work with your logging and monitoring setup?
If an operation is absent, differs from the documented API, or requires request control the client does not expose, direct HTTP may be the more appropriate choice. If the mapped methods suit your needs, the SDK can spare you from repeatedly writing endpoint construction and request plumbing. In either case, use DefiLlama’s live documentation to validate endpoint paths, access tiers, and authentication before relying on them.
Version and freshness
The package registry listed v1.2.1 as published on October 7, 2026. A registry date establishes when that version was listed, not independent code review, a maintenance commitment, or continued API parity. Endpoint inventories, access tiers, and authentication rules can change, so check the current package release and DefiLlama documentation when adopting or updating an integration.
