Stolt-Nielsen reported Q3 2026 net profit of $84.4 million, up from $64.0 million a year earlier, but that total includes a $15.4 million gain from selling half its Avenir LNG interest. Operating results were mixed: tankers weakened, while terminals and tank containers improved. Investing.com reported that the shares fell 4.02%, attributing the move to management’s softer Q4 tanker outlook; that market move and explanation are not independently confirmed by the company materials cited here.

What Stolt-Nielsen reported for Q3 2026

The reporting period ended August 31, 2026. Stolt-Nielsen published unaudited third-quarter and nine-month results on October 1, describing underlying performance as steady in a challenging market. The company’s official investor page lists the results release, financial report, call replay and presentation slides.

Measure Q3 2026 Q3 2025
Net profit $84.4 million $64.0 million
Revenue $776.5 million $699.9 million
Consolidated EBITDA $194.1 million $191.7 million
Earnings per share $1.59 $1.20

These are company-reported year-over-year comparisons. Stolt-Nielsen defines consolidated EBITDA before the fair value of biological assets, asset-sale gains or losses, and other one-time, non-cash items. Net profit, by contrast, includes the Avenir LNG sale gain, so the increase in net profit should not be read as wholly recurring earnings growth.

Why profit rose while operating performance was mixed

The $15.4 million gain came from selling a 50% interest in Avenir LNG. The company’s core businesses did not all move in the same direction.

Business Q3 2026 operating profit Q3 2025 operating profit What changed
Stolt Tankers $52.1 million $57.2 million Lower volumes and higher bunker costs offset firmer freight rates.
Stolthaven Terminals $27.1 million $26.3 million Higher utilization accompanied the increase.
Stolt Tank Containers $13.1 million $11.7 million The business continued integrating Suttons and returned to operating profit.
Corporate and Other $8.5 million $14.2 million Includes Stolt Sea Farm, Stolt-Nielsen Gas and the biological-asset fair-value adjustment.

For Stolt Tankers, average deep-sea time charter equivalent (TCE) revenue was $24,121 per operating day, down from $24,838. Stolt-Nielsen defines TCE as sailed-in deep-sea revenue per operating day after voyage-related and trading-overhead expenses, divided by operating days.

Consolidated EBITDA was nearly flat year over year despite higher revenue and net profit. That contrast, together with the segment figures, helps distinguish the reported bottom-line increase from the quarter’s underlying operating pattern.

What management said about the quarter and outlook

In the official results announcement, CEO Udo Lange characterized performance as broadly in line with the prior year and improved from the prior quarter. He also pointed to short visibility and shifting customer priorities:

“I am pleased to report underlying operating performance broadly in line with last year, and an improvement on the prior quarter, despite a challenging macro backdrop. Global supply chains are complex, and visibility remains short. Customer conversations have evolved from supply chain efficiency to supply chain resilience.”

That is management’s assessment. Investing.com’s account of the earnings-call transcript reports that management expected Q4 performance to be “modestly behind” Q3, chiefly because of a softer tanker outlook. Recent spot-market improvements had not yet translated into bookings, according to that report. The detailed forecast wording is attributed to Investing.com’s transcript coverage rather than the official release excerpt.

Why the shares reportedly fell 4%

Investing.com reported a 4.02% share decline to $358.5 and said investors focused on the softer Q4 tanker outlook. How to read the results

  • Separate reported profit from recurring performance: net profit rose, but included the Avenir LNG transaction gain.
  • Look beyond the group total: tanker operating profit and TCE declined, while terminals and tank containers recorded higher operating profit.
  • Treat the share move and Q4 forecast with source context: Investing.com reported both the 4.02% decline and the “modestly behind” outlook; the cited company materials do not independently validate the market reaction.
