Boss Challenge itself is not a separately identified game. Shift Up announced it as a mode arriving in the PS5 game in patch 1.003 on May 24, 2024. In the announcement, director Kim Hyung Tae described it this way: “The Boss Challenge pits you against the 19 bosses from the base game.”

How Boss Challenge works
Access depends on your campaign progress
You need battle data for a boss from having already defeated that boss in the main game before entering its challenge. Hard-difficulty boss fights become available after you have seen the ending.

Choose your equipment approach
You can bring your own gear or select a preset. Presets include minimum and maximum setups, letting you choose a constrained or more powerful configuration rather than treating the mode as a fixed build.
Review performance after each fight
After a battle, the game analyzes your performance. The displayed measures include battle time, perfect parries and dodges, and consumable use. These give you concrete ways to assess a run beyond whether you won.

PlayStation’s US PlayStation Store listing identifies Stellar Blade as a one-player action/adventure game and includes Boss Challenge Mode in its description. PlayStation also has a PC page for Stellar Blade, which lists PC purchase options and DualSense wireless controller support with haptic feedback. The controller is an optional PC accessory, not a stated requirement for the game.

The IGN listing’s description says the game is available on PS5 and PC and is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026. That Switch 2 date is a claim in the IGN listing; the official PlayStation sources cited here do not confirm it.
