Steam’s September 2026 hardware survey lists the desktop GeForce RTX 5070 as its leading individual video-card entry, at 6.15%. It also lists AMD’s Radeon RX 9070 XT and RX 9060 XT, so the older claim that RDNA 4 cards were missing from Steam’s named GPU entries is no longer current. These percentages describe participating Steam users—not GPU sales, benchmark results, or the wider PC market.
What Steam’s September 2026 GPU list shows
Steam’s video-card distribution lists the desktop GeForce RTX 5070 at 6.15%, the highest individual GPU entry shown on the page. The RTX 5070 Laptop GPU is a separate entry, so it is not included in that figure. The next two listed desktop models are the RTX 5060 at 4.40% and RTX 5060 Ti at 4.06%. Steam’s video-card survey page displays these figures for September 2026.

These are Valve/Steam’s displayed survey shares and month-to-month changes, not independent counts of cards sold or estimates of all installed PC GPUs. “On top” here means the leading individual GPU entry on that list; it does not mean the RTX 5070 is the best-performing or best-value card.

RDNA 4 is no longer absent from the named entries
The September list includes AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT at 1.42% and RX 9060 XT at 0.77%. Their presence makes the claim that RDNA 4 is “still MIA” inaccurate if “MIA” means missing from Steam’s published named GPU entries. The RX 9070 XT share is 0.04 percentage points lower than August’s 1.46%; the RX 9060 XT is 0.03 points lower than August’s 0.80%. Steam’s displayed distribution does not explain why those figures moved.

What the Steam Hardware Survey measures
Steam describes the survey as a monthly collection of information about the hardware and software its customers use. Participation is “optional, and anonymous,” according to Steam’s survey overview. The GPU percentages therefore reflect the survey’s participating Steam users; they should not be treated as worldwide market share, retail sales, units shipped, or a census of every Steam account.
- It does show: the GPU entries and percentages Steam reports for its surveyed users in a given month.
- It does not show: benchmark performance, purchase volume, value for money, or why a model’s share changed.
For that reason, the RTX 5070’s increase from 3.77% in August to 6.15% in September is a change in Steam’s displayed survey share. The page does not establish whether price, availability, a launch, regional participation, or another factor caused it.

PC Gamer’s September 2, 2025 report used the August 2025 survey and said RDNA 4 cards did not appear in the top 100. That was a description of that historical snapshot, not a claim that holds for Steam’s September 2026 list. The report also scoped the RTX 5070’s lead to current-generation GPU hardware and noted the survey could be distorted. PC Gamer’s 2025 coverage is useful historical context, but the newer Steam page changes the answer to the RDNA 4 question.

NVIDIA announced the RTX 5070 in January 2025 with availability starting in February and a launch price of $549. That figure is historical launch pricing, not evidence of current retail prices, stock, or value. NVIDIA said Founders Edition availability would be through NVIDIA, alongside models from add-in-card providers. See NVIDIA’s RTX 50 Series launch announcement.
