Alinea Analytics estimates Steam generated $1.7 billion in September 2026, which it calls the platform’s best September to date. Among the new releases highlighted in its analysis, Wardogs led with an estimated $86.9 million in September Steam revenue, followed by Onimusha: Way of the Sword and The Blood of Dawnwalker. These are analyst estimates, not Valve-confirmed revenue totals.
What Alinea estimates Steam earned in September
Alinea Analytics estimates September 2026 Steam revenue at $1.7 billion. Rhys Elliott, the firm’s head of market analysis, wrote, “Steam generated $1.7 billion in September 2026,” describing it as “the platform’s best September to date.” The figures are estimates published by Alinea, not official or audited totals disclosed by Valve. Alinea Analytics and PC Gamer report the analysis and its attribution.

Alinea also estimates Q3 2026 revenue at $5.5 billion, up 12% year over year. For the first nine months of 2026, it estimates $16.5 billion, compared with $14.5 billion for the same period in 2025, a 13% increase.

Wardogs is the standout among these highlighted new releases by estimated September Steam revenue. The values are not unit-sales figures, profit, or total revenue across all platforms; the available reporting does not establish those measures.
New intellectual property versus established franchises
Alinea says its top-500 top-grossing Steam games represented about three-quarters of September revenue. Within that analyzed group, new 2026 intellectual property accounted for 20.5% of revenue, while established intellectual property accounted for about 79.5%. This split applies to the top-500 group Alinea analyzed, not necessarily the entire Steam catalog.

Revenue estimates and sustained attention are different claims
Alinea’s analysis says Arc Raiders and Helldivers 2 had more sustained hype cycles and virality than Wardogs. That is a qualitative interpretation of attention, not a measured virality metric, and it does not change the separate September revenue estimates. The reporting does not provide a detailed estimation method, regional breakdown, or treatment of refunds, taxes, discounts, or Steam’s platform fees, so the dollar figures should be read as Alinea’s estimates rather than as a precise accounting of player spending.
