There is no substantiated “10 best” ranking for steam washing machines that serve allergies, delicate fabrics and activewear. The available model-specific evidence shows why: allergen claims and cycle options vary by washer, and steam may damage some delicate items. Use the checks below to find a model that fits your needs, and verify its exact regional model number and manual before buying.
What a steam washer can—and cannot—do
A steam or hygiene cycle is a particular program, not a universal fabric-care feature. It may be designed for hygiene or allergen reduction, while wool, delicates and sportswear may require separate programs. A model listing both kinds of cycles does not establish that steam is used safely on every fabric cycle.
For example, UK-listed LG F4X5013TWB includes Allergy Care and Wool, but marks Delicates and Sportswear/Activewear unavailable. UK-listed Samsung WW80FG5L32AEEU lists Hygiene Steam and a separate Wool/Delicates program; its product page does not say that Hygiene Steam is intended for those fabrics. When an allergy claim is meaningful
Look for a claim tied to the exact washer model, a named certification or test, and the allergens covered. A certification or manufacturer claim for one model is not proof that every steam washer reduces every allergen.

Samsung WW10FG5U34AEEU: UK-listed example
Samsung says this model has Hygiene Steam and that its Steam Wash carries the Allergy UK Seal of Approval. Samsung’s product-page qualification says the relevant British Allergy Foundation test report covers reduced exposure to house dust mite, cat, dog, grass pollen and fungi when the product is used properly. Treat this as the manufacturer’s qualified product-page claim, not a comparative independent test. The page also says Hygiene Steam eliminates 99.9% of certain bacteria; that is a separate claim and should not be confused with the allergen qualification. [Samsung WW10FG5U34AEEU]
Electrolux families listed by NSF
NSF’s P351 listing, current as of October 7, 2026, names washer families ELFW7537, ELFW7626, ELFW7637, ELFW7738, ELTE7600, ELTE760C and ELTG7600. The listing excerpt gives no percentage result for each family. Confirm the precise model suffix and its features in the manual; a family-level listing is not a substitute for checking the exact unit. [NSF P351 listing]

LG claims are model-specific too
LG’s UK W4X5016TBB page describes a washer-dryer, says its Steam technology reduces allergens by up to 99.99%, and qualifies the Allergy Care approval as applying to a 24-inch LG Steam washing machine to reduce house dust mite allergens. The figure should not be generalized to every LG washer, all allergens or all fabrics. Because it is a washer-dryer, compare it separately from washer-only models. [LG W4X5016TBB]
Steam is not automatically safe for delicate fabrics
LG USA advises: “Do not use steam with delicates such as wool, silk or easily discolored fabrics.” Its separate steam-function guidance also warns that wool, silk and leather can be damaged by high temperatures. Follow the garment care label and the exact washer manual; do not choose a steam cycle for a delicate item just because the machine has a Wool or Delicates program. How to choose a washer for all three needs
- Fix the market and exact model first. Confirm the country, full model suffix, capacity and whether the unit is a washer or washer-dryer. Product names, cycles, certifications and availability can differ by region.
- Verify the allergy feature. Check whether a claim is certified or manufacturer-described, which specific model it covers, which allergens it names, and any proper-use qualification.
- Check cycles one by one. In the exact model manual or cycle chart, confirm Allergy/Hygiene, Wool/Delicates and Sportswear/Activewear separately. Do not infer that the allergy cycle is appropriate for delicates or performance fabrics.
- Read the fabric warnings. Compare steam guidance against care labels, especially for wool, silk, leather and easily discolored garments.
- Compare practical fit and independently tested performance. Verify dimensions, installation needs, capacity, energy and water information, warranty and current local price. For a “best” choice, prioritize comparable independent cleaning and fabric-care tests over manufacturer marketing figures.
Examples worth checking, not a ranked top ten
| Model or family | What the cited source establishes | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Samsung WW10FG5U34AEEU (UK) | Hygiene Steam; product-page Allergy UK seal qualification covering named allergens when properly used. | Samsung’s qualified product-page claim, not an independent comparison. |
| Samsung WW80FG5L32AEEU (UK) | Hygiene Steam and a separate Wool/Delicates program. | The cited page does not establish that steam is intended for Wool/Delicates. |
| LG F4X5013TWB (UK) | Allergy Care and Wool listed. | Delicates and Sportswear/Activewear are marked unavailable for this model. |
| LG W4X5016TBB (UK washer-dryer) | Steam and an Allergy Care approval qualification are described. | Washer-dryer, not directly comparable to washer-only models; allergen figure is model- and claim-specific. |
| Electrolux families ELFW7537, ELFW7626, ELFW7637, ELFW7738, ELTE7600, ELTE760C and ELTG7600 | Named in NSF’s P351 listing current October 7, 2026. | Confirm the exact model suffix; the listing excerpt gives no individual percentage result. |
Why a “10 best” list is not justified here
The identified sources establish several relevant models and features, but not ten current candidates in one defined market, comparable independent tests, or current prices. Naming ten winners would imply evidence that is not established. Treat the examples as leads for checking manuals and local availability, not as a ranking or endorsement.
