Some Steam Frame waitlisted users say they have been moved into Valve’s reservation queue. That is not a purchase invitation: Valve’s process separates the queue notice from a later email offering the chance to buy when units become available. The reported movement is anecdotal, and Valve has not published a count for Steam Frame production, reservations, or shipments, according to reporting dated October 2, 2026.

What Steam Frame buyers say happened

Digital Citizen reported on October 2, 2026, that a buyer posted a September 30 email on Valve’s Steam Frame discussion hub. The message, as reproduced in the report, began: “You’re officially in the reservation queue for Steam Frame 1TB Kit”. The article also relayed another user’s report of receiving a similar notice. These are individual user reports, not an announcement or count from Valve. Digital Citizen’s report

The reports concern a move from the waitlist into the reservation queue. They do not establish that recipients had received a purchase link, that a new production batch had been announced, or how many accounts moved forward.

Waitlist, reservation queue, and purchase option are different stages

Valve’s limited-drop terms distinguish a waitlist from a reservation queue. A waitlist place means demand is beyond the units then available to reserve. People in the reservation queue can later receive an email with an option to purchase as units become available. So a queue-promotion message is not itself a purchase invitation. Valve’s Steam Frame Limited Drop Program Terms

Valve’s terms say that a purchase link expires 72 hours after it is sent. That deadline applies to the purchase link, not to the earlier notice that a person has entered the reservation queue. The October 2 report says an unclaimed purchase opportunity passes to the next person in line.

What is confirmed, reported, and still unknown

  • Valve’s stated process: a reservation-queue email may be followed by a purchase option as units become available; purchase links expire after 72 hours, according to Valve’s limited-drop terms.
  • Reported user experience: buyers said they received queue-promotion emails around September 30 and October 1, as relayed by Digital Citizen. The reporting does not provide a representative account of all waitlisted users.
  • No published total in the reporting: Digital Citizen said Valve had not published Steam Frame production, reservation, or shipping figures as of October 2, 2026. No wave size can be attributed to Valve on that basis.
  • Cause not established: the report says Valve did not say whether the promotions resulted from cancellations, new production, or both. Its account of Valve’s FAQ says future production runs may be offered in waitlist order, but that does not explain this particular movement.
  • Coverage not established: the report does not identify which regions or storage kits were involved. Its account describes queues as product- and region-specific, so one person’s progress does not predict another account’s status.

Why community trackers cannot establish the wave’s size

Community posts and trackers can document what participants choose to report, but they are not a Valve order lookup and do not represent every account. Any tracker count should be understood as a self-reported sample, tied to its date and participants—not extrapolated into total reservations, production, or shipments. Community discussion
