SpaceX’s Starship Flight 14 had a planned launch window of 7:15–9:14 a.m. Central Daylight Time on September 28, 2026, from Starbase, Texas. That was an early-morning opportunity, not a promised liftoff time. The flight has since taken place: the Associated Press reported that Starship reached orbit and deployed Starlink satellites before returning early and splashing down north of Hawaii.
When was Starship Flight 14 scheduled to launch?
The FAA Air Traffic Control System Command Center listed Flight 14’s primary window as 1215Z–1414Z on September 28, 2026, equivalent to 7:15–9:14 a.m. CDT in Starbase. It listed a backup window at the same times on September 29. A launch window gives a period in which a launch is planned; it does not identify an exact liftoff time. The FAA’s September 27 pre-mission advisory described the event as tentative. It also warned that a mishap could trigger debris-response areas and air-traffic measures such as holds, route closures, or ground stops. Did Starship Flight 14 launch, and what happened?
Yes. The Associated Press reported that Starship launched on September 28, reached orbit, and deployed Starlink satellites. The flight then ended earlier than planned, with the vehicle splashing down north of Hawaii. AP reported that it tipped over and erupted in flames on splashdown. Associated Press report on Flight 14

Does the FAA schedule mean Starship had a launch license?
No. The FAA operations plan is an air-traffic coordination and scheduling record: it shows that a Flight 14 window was planned. It is not the flight’s license document, and it does not establish the precise authorization conditions for that mission.
The FAA says SpaceX must obtain an experimental permit or vehicle operator license for Starship/Super Heavy operations at Boca Chica. The agency’s licensing review considers public safety, national security or foreign-policy concerns, insurance, and potential environmental impacts. These records answer different questions: a schedule documents planned timing, a license defines authorization and conditions, and post-flight reporting describes what happened. The available Flight 14 schedule and reporting establish the planned window and the outcome, but not the mission’s exact license terms.

How do the broader FAA Starship reviews relate to Flight 14?
Boca Chica environmental review
The FAA’s Boca Chica project page describes environmental review of a proposed modification that would address additional launch trajectories and return-to-launch-site mission profiles. That proposal lists up to 25 annual orbital launches, up to 25 Starship landings, and up to 25 Super Heavy landings. These are limits stated for that proposed project action; they do not show that Flight 14 was authorized for that cadence or establish its specific license conditions. Separate Florida proposal
The FAA’s September 29, 2026, notice concerning SpaceX’s proposed SLC-37 operations at Cape Canaveral is a separate matter. The agency says SpaceX must obtain a license modification before conducting commercial Starship/Super Heavy launch and landing operations associated with that site. The September 28 schedule supports calling Flight 14 an early-morning launch opportunity in Texas. It does not establish that the launch was timed for sunrise, nor does the window by itself explain why those hours were selected. In separate Flight 9 material, the FAA said it required a launch window during non-peak transit periods to reduce air-traffic disruption; that historical rationale should not be assumed to explain Flight 14’s schedule. For a past mission, the clearest account comes from combining the records carefully: the FAA schedule documents the planned time, the pre-mission advisory communicates tentative status and potential airspace effects, and AP reports the flight’s result. None should be mistaken for the others.
