GamesRadar+ reviewer Will Sawyer’s verdict is that Star Wars: Galactic Racer delivers blistering arcade speed, satisfying drifting and consequential race choices, but its six-planet selection and final campaign act keep it from sustaining that momentum throughout. His review describes a three-act, run-based campaign alongside Arcade, Scenarios and multiplayer modes.
What is Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is an arcade racing game from Fuse Games, set in the Star Wars galaxy. Its campaign follows Shade, described by StarWars.com as “a lone racer with a dream of glory and revenge.” Players race repulsorcraft in high-stakes competitions, with vehicle choice, upgrades and event selection shaping their route through the League.
StarWars.com lists a worldwide launch on October 6, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It names Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s editions, as well as two preorder bonuses: an additional repulsorcraft livery and a multiplayer player banner. Those are the official launch details; they do not establish current retailer stock, live pricing or physical-disc availability for each platform. StarWars.com’s announcement and interview has the official details.
How does the racing feel?
Sawyer’s review emphasizes fast, accessible handling rather than simulation-style precision. He compares its drifting-heavy feel more to Mario Kart than Gran Turismo, and the game’s Burnout lineage is reflected in the emphasis on speed, boost and dangerous racing decisions. That is the reviewer’s comparison, not a claim that the games handle identically.
The review describes three repulsorcraft classes, each with different handling characteristics:
#1 Best Overall
- COMPETE IN HIGH-STAKES RACES - Slam, shunt, and takedown rivals across varied circuits as you pilot land speeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and pod racers. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.
- SURVIVE A DANGEROUS UNDERGROUND SPORT - Join The Galactic League - an unsanctioned racing circuit born in the lawless Outer Rim. Become Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory.
- BUILD AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CRAFT - Pilot different classes of repulsorcraft each with distinct physics and playstyles. Build a ride that showcases your style and gives you a competitive edge.
- BATTLE RIVALS IN MULTIPLE GAME MODES - Ride solo through a story-driven campaign of shifting alliances or brave strategic PvP grudge matches where reputation rides with you.
- CLIMB THE RANKS AND EARN REWARDS - Prove yourself through intense rivalries and escalating challenges. Every choice shapes your prospects as you build your status in The Galactic League.
- Landspeeders: one of the three available craft classes.
- Speeder bikes: another distinct class in the vehicle lineup.
- Skim speeders: the third class, with its own handling feel.
Drifting and afterburners are central to maintaining speed, while hazards and high-speed crashes make a race more than a clean sprint to the finish. Sawyer particularly praises how tactile the pre-race sequence feels and how well the driving communicates speed. The official interview with Fuse Games co-founder Matt Webster likewise describes the vehicles as having distinct handling characteristics.
What is the campaign and run structure?
The campaign is organized into three acts made up of run-based tours. In a tour, players choose among branching event paths and make upgrade decisions that shape the run. The stakes are meaningful: losing the League Token or being wrecked can end a tour, sending the player back to retry rather than simply continuing through that run.

That format creates a trade-off. A strong run can reward careful choices and a build suited to a player’s style, but a mistake can cost progress. Webster says the team drew inspiration from run-based games, with decisions about starting vehicle, upgrades and selected events forming part of the route toward becoming League champion. The review finds that risk-and-reward structure compelling, while also reporting that difficulty and repetition become more pronounced late in the campaign.
What does the review praise—and what holds it back?
Sawyer spent over 30 hours playing, completed the campaign and tried Scenarios, Arcade and multiplayer, according to GamesRadar+’s disclosure. The review was conducted on PS5 using a publisher-provided code; its observations are the reviewer’s assessment, not independent testing.

| What works in Sawyer’s review | What he criticizes |
|---|---|
| Fast, enjoyable arcade handling built around drifting and boost management. | The six-planet roster feels too small for a competition billed as the Galactic League. |
| Risk-and-reward decisions give run-based tours meaningful stakes. | Some circuits blend together, limiting the sense of place and course variety. |
| The Star Wars setting has character, and the pre-race sequence feels tactile. | Act 3 repeats the planet order and grows more difficult, making the closing stretch feel repetitive. |
| There are multiple ways to play beyond the campaign: Scenarios, Arcade and multiplayer. | The campaign’s ending feels abrupt to the reviewer. |
In short, the review’s strongest case for the game is moment-to-moment racing: it feels quick, responsive and full of decisions. Its main reservation is variety over time. The review says the vehicle and mode mix does not fully compensate for a small-feeling set of planets and circuits, particularly when the final act returns to familiar locations.

Based on Sawyer’s review, it is most appealing to players who want accessible arcade racing, drifting, boost management and the tension of a run that can end after a costly mistake. Players primarily looking for a broad range of distinct worlds and courses, or a campaign that builds to a gradual conclusion, may be less satisfied with the reported planet and endgame repetition.
