Star Wars: Galactic Racer is not yet reviewable: as of October 3, 2026, it is scheduled to launch on October 6, 2026, and the available evidence is pre-release coverage rather than post-launch testing. It is a new Star Wars racing game from Fuse Games, whose leaders and team members have experience with Burnout and Need for Speed—not a Burnout sequel. Official materials promise several vehicle classes, a story campaign, and online PvP; whether the finished game delivers on those promises remains to be established.
What is Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Star Wars: Galactic Racer is an upcoming racing game developed by Fuse Games and published by Secret Mode. It is set in the Outer Rim after the Empire’s fall. Players follow Shade, a racer pursuing revenge and glory in the Galactic League, an unsanctioned racing circuit. The official description presents it as a high-stakes, runs-based take on racing.
The announced platforms are PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with an official release date of October 6, 2026. The StarWars.com reveal announcement and Steam listing describe the game and its planned launch.
Is Galactic Racer a Burnout successor?
There is a real connection, but “successor” needs qualification. Lucasfilm Games says Fuse Games’ leaders worked at Criterion and were industry leaders on Need for Speed and Burnout; Fuse also says many team members worked on those racing franchises. That supports describing Galactic Racer as a Star Wars racer made by a team with Burnout experience. It does not establish that the game is a sequel, spiritual successor, or mechanically equivalent to Burnout.
#1 Best Overall
- COMPETE IN HIGH-STAKES RACES - Slam, shunt, and takedown rivals across varied circuits as you pilot land speeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders, and pod racers. The greater the risk, the greater the reward.
- SURVIVE A DANGEROUS UNDERGROUND SPORT - Join The Galactic League - an unsanctioned racing circuit born in the lawless Outer Rim. Become Shade, a lone racer chasing revenge and glory.
- BUILD AND CUSTOMIZE YOUR CRAFT - Pilot different classes of repulsorcraft each with distinct physics and playstyles. Build a ride that showcases your style and gives you a competitive edge.
- BATTLE RIVALS IN MULTIPLE GAME MODES - Ride solo through a story-driven campaign of shifting alliances or brave strategic PvP grudge matches where reputation rides with you.
- CLIMB THE RANKS AND EARN REWARDS - Prove yourself through intense rivalries and escalating challenges. Every choice shapes your prospects as you build your status in The Galactic League.
Whether its racing actually captures Burnout’s feel—through handling, aggression, collisions, and race flow—requires playing the released game. The team’s background is relevant context, not proof of the finished game’s quality.
What do pre-release impressions say about the racing?
Xbox Wire reports that its writer played about an hour of campaign and arcade modes at Summer Game Fest: Play Days. The writer called the game challenging and fun and noted depth and replayability, as well as distinct handling for landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders. These are attributed preview impressions from a limited pre-release session, not a review of the final release. The Xbox Wire hands-on preview explains what that writer experienced.

Those impressions cannot answer the questions that matter most in a full review: how varied the races are, how the campaign develops, whether difficulty feels fair, how the game performs on each platform, and whether online play is reliable and enjoyable. At the time of the Steam listing’s access, it showed no user reviews, so there was no player-review consensus to consult.

Should you wait for the review?
If you are deciding whether to buy based on gameplay quality, waiting for post-launch reviews is the sound choice: the evidence available before release confirms the game’s premise, announced features, team lineage, and limited preview impressions, but not its final handling, performance, campaign quality, or online experience. If the Star Wars setting and mix of vehicle types already appeal to you, the announced features may be enough to keep it on your radar, but they should not be mistaken for tested results.
