Spotify’s January 2026 U.S. Premium price update raised Duo and Family by $2 per month each—the largest monthly dollar increases among the four listed plans. Spotify’s current U.S. prices are $18.99 for Duo and $21.99 for Family; the amount and date on an existing subscriber’s next bill depend on the notice in their Spotify email or account.
How much do Spotify Premium plans cost in the U.S.?
Spotify’s U.S. Premium page currently lists these monthly rates. The new rates are not global: Spotify says prices vary by plan and market.

The $2 increase ties Duo and Family for the largest rise in dollars per month among the listed tiers. It does not mean they had the largest percentage increase: the same dollar change is a different share of each plan’s former price. The older prices and plan-by-plan increase comparison come from MacRumors reporting; Spotify’s announcement did not list those amounts.
Who can use Duo or Family?
Premium Duo
Duo provides two Premium accounts for people who reside at the same address. At the current U.S. listed rate of $18.99 per month, the cost is $9.50 per person if both accounts are used and the charge is split evenly. One account used alone would make the effective cost $18.99 per user.

Premium Family
Family covers up to six members who reside at the same address. At $21.99 per month, a fully used six-account plan works out to about $3.67 per person if divided evenly; with fewer members, the per-person cost is higher. Check Spotify’s terms before choosing a household plan, because the address requirement applies.
When does the higher price apply to existing subscribers?
Spotify published its announcement on January 15, 2026, naming the United States, Estonia, and Latvia. It said subscribers in those markets would receive an email explaining the change over the following month. Spotify’s U.S. support guidance says the notice gives the account-specific date when the new charge applies, so there is no single universal billing date to apply to every subscriber.

- If you cannot find the email, sign in to your Spotify account and check its billing or subscription details for the charge information.
- Use the price and date shown for your account when planning your next payment; do not assume the announcement date is the date your bill changes.
What did Spotify say about the increase?
Spotify said: “Occasional updates to pricing across our markets reflect the value that Spotify delivers, enabling us to continue offering the best possible experience and benefit artists.” That is Spotify’s stated rationale, not independent evidence of why these particular U.S. plan prices changed.
For historical context, Spotify’s 2023 U.S. announced monthly prices were $10.99 for Individual, $14.99 for Duo, $16.99 for Family, and $5.99 for Student. Those are historical rates, not the current prices.
