Spotify is reportedly aiming to make audiobooks available in more than 180 markets before the end of 2026, but that is a reported target—not a confirmed completed rollout. Spotify’s official updates in April and May 2026 said its Audiobooks in Premium offering was live in 22 markets. Availability, plan terms, catalog, and features can differ by country, so check Spotify’s local information before assuming the service or a particular benefit is available to you.
What Spotify has confirmed—and what remains a reported target
In its April 15 and May 21, 2026 updates, Spotify said Audiobooks in Premium was available in 22 markets and its catalog contained more than 700,000 titles. A Cinco Días report published October 7, 2026 said Spotify had launched audiobooks in Spain and planned to increase availability from 22 markets to more than 180 before year-end. The report attributes that goal to Spotify, but Spotify’s cited official updates do not confirm the target or provide a market-by-market rollout schedule. Treat the figure as a plan reported by the newspaper, not as a count of markets already served.
“Markets” also does not establish that the same catalog, subscription entitlement, listening allowance, language selection, or features will arrive everywhere. Spotify’s official announcements describe different terms and capabilities in different launches, so the headline figure alone cannot tell you what you can listen to in your country.
How access and listening terms can vary
Spotify’s November 2025 Nordic launch illustrates why availability is not the same as a universal benefit. In Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Monaco, eligible Premium subscribers received 12 audiobook listening hours per month. Spotify also described paid hour top-ups, an Audiobooks+ add-on, and individual audiobook purchases for free users. Those were terms for that launch and should not be assumed to apply in other markets.

To assess what the service means for you, check these details for your country and plan:
- Whether Spotify audiobooks are available in your market.
- Whether access requires an eligible Premium plan or individual titles can be purchased separately.
- How many listening hours are included, whether they renew monthly, and whether top-ups or add-ons are offered.
- Which titles and listening languages are available locally.
- Whether features such as Page Match, Recaps, audiobook charts, and print-book purchasing are supported on your device and in your market.
Spotify’s support and country information are the appropriate places to verify current local terms; a complete current market list is not established by the announcements cited here.
What Spotify has added to the audiobook experience
Alongside its reported catalog of more than 700,000 audiobook titles in April 2026, Spotify announced updates intended to connect listening with reading:

- Page Match: Spotify said the feature was expanding to more than 30 additional languages, including French, German, and Swedish. It is designed to connect a print or e-book edition with its audiobook. Spotify also reported that Page Match users streamed an average of 55% more audiobook hours each week than other listeners, and that 62% of Page Matched titles were books those users had not previously streamed. These are company-reported observations; they do not show that Page Match caused the differences.
- Recaps: Spotify said audiobook Recaps became available on Android.
- Audiobook charts: Spotify introduced audiobook charts in Germany.
- Physical books: Spotify announced that readers in the United States and United Kingdom could buy physical books through Bookshop.org in the Spotify app. Its April announcement said the option was available on Android at the time, with iOS purchases to follow the next week; that rollout detail should not be taken as a current device-status guarantee.
These announcements show a broader effort to connect spoken, digital, and print reading, but they do not establish that every feature or purchase option is available in every audiobook market.
What Spotify announced for later in 2026
In May 2026, Spotify announced plans for higher-hour Audiobooks+ tiers in summer and for Audiobooks+ access on Family and Student plans later in the year. It also announced invite-only beta audiobook-creation tools for self-published authors, powered by ElevenLabs technology and initially English-only in select markets. Spotify cautioned that market, plan, and feature details could change before launch. These are announcements of planned offerings, not evidence that each one has since launched in a particular country.

- Check Spotify’s current support or country information for your market rather than relying on the reported 180-market target.
- Open your local Premium plan details and confirm whether audiobook listening is included, how any monthly hours work, and whether top-ups or Audiobooks+ are offered.
- Search for a specific title in Spotify. Catalog size is a global figure and does not guarantee that a particular audiobook or language is available locally.
- Check the feature and device details for Page Match, Recaps, charts, and physical-book purchases if one of those is central to how you plan to use the service.
For context, Spotify reported 36% year-over-year growth in audiobook listeners and 37% growth in total audiobook listening hours in its English-language markets in November 2025. Those are Spotify’s company-reported figures for that defined group of markets, not evidence of availability or adoption in every country.
