Neither headphone is a proven overall winner for calls or music. There is no same-condition test of the Soundcore Space 2 Pro against the Sony WH-1000XM5 in the available evidence. Soundcore emphasizes AI voice separation, while Sony describes beamforming microphones and AI noise reduction; a Tom’s Guide reviewer found the Space 2 Pro kept their voice clear during a noisy call but did not remove the drilling sound for the other caller. Choose based on the features and evidence that matter to your use, rather than microphone counts or marketing claims alone.
Which is better for calls?
The evidence does not establish that either model has clearer microphone quality overall. The manufacturers describe different call-processing systems, and only the Space 2 Pro has a reported independent noisy-call observation in the cited material.
| Headphone | Call features described by the manufacturer | Reported real-world call evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Soundcore Space 2 Pro | Soundcore lists a Thus AI chip, six microphones and real-time voice separation. These are manufacturer feature descriptions, not a direct performance comparison. Soundcore product page | In Tom’s Guide’s 2026 review, a reviewer made a call with a drilling-noise track set at 75 dB. The reviewer reports that their voice was clear and audible to the other caller, who could still hear the drilling. This is one reported test, not a laboratory benchmark. Tom’s Guide review |
| Sony WH-1000XM5 | Sony says its four beamforming microphones and AI-based noise-reduction algorithm isolate the speaker’s voice; it also describes a wind-noise reduction structure. These are Sony’s product claims. Sony call features | A comparable noisy-call result against the Space 2 Pro is not established in the cited sources. |
For frequent calls in busy places, the Space 2 Pro has a specific reported noisy-call result, but the test also shows a limit: the other caller could hear the drilling. Sony’s published microphone description alone cannot show whether it would do better in that situation. A same-reviewer, same-environment test of both exact models would be needed for a dependable ranking.

Which sounds better for music?
There is no controlled listening comparison here that establishes a music-sound winner. Soundcore lists a 35 mm driver, HearID 5.0 personalization and LDAC support. Sony lists SBC, AAC and LDAC support as well as DSEE Extreme. Those feature lists do not determine which headphone will sound better to a particular listener. Sound preference depends on the listener, the recording, the connected device and listening conditions. If music quality is the deciding factor, compare both with the same tracks and source device, at a similar volume, and using the listening settings you expect to keep. Codec support is only one part of that experience; the cited product pages are not listening tests.
How do their noise cancellation and comfort compare?
Soundcore lists adaptive ANC for the Space 2 Pro, while Sony’s specifications and call-feature information describe noise reduction for calls. Those descriptions do not provide a directly comparable measurement of how well the headphones reduce surrounding sound during music or travel. The available evidence also does not establish a fit or comfort winner. Try each model if possible, especially if you expect to wear it for long sessions.

What does Soundcore’s Guinness claim mean?
Soundcore says the Space 2 Pro received Guinness World Records certification on August 20, 2026, for the highest speech quality score (G-MOS) for wireless over-ear headphones with an integrated microphone. Soundcore UK product page This is a claim published by Soundcore; the original Guinness record documentation is not established here. The claim concerns a speech-quality score and does not establish that the Space 2 Pro beats the WH-1000XM5 in calls, music sound or every environment.

Which one should you choose?
- Consider the Space 2 Pro if its listed features suit you and you value the one available noisy-call observation. Treat that result as a single review test: the caller could still hear the background drilling.

- Choose by listening and testing when sound is paramount. No cited same-condition comparison settles which model sounds better for music or performs better on calls.
