Build a Soul Strike team around what the stage requires, not a supposedly universal best lineup: combine allies and skills that cover useful effects such as crowd control, allied buffs, and damage, then use elemental resonance when it is available. The game supports a five-ally formation and a training mode for testing combinations, but official sources do not establish one optimal team for every mode or account.
What a balanced Soul Strike team needs to do
“Roles” are best understood as functions your lineup needs to cover, rather than fixed tank, healer, and damage-dealer slots. The documented examples include stunning enemies, increasing allied critical damage, and dealing damage with an elemental or status-related interaction. Check the effects of the allies and skills you own, then choose a combination suited to the stage.
- Control: Effects such as a stun can interrupt or hinder enemies. Ally Ran is one documented example: the publisher describes Ran as dealing damage and stunning enemies.
- Team support: A buff can improve damage from other members of the lineup. Ran is also described as increasing allied critical damage.
- Damage and interactions: The Phoenix skill is described as dealing fire-element damage; its awakening effects can increase allied critical damage or add damage against burning enemies. These examples illustrate possible combinations, not a current ranking of either option.
Whether an effect is useful depends on the content you are attempting and the levels or awakenings required to access it. Compare what each candidate actually contributes instead of assuming a particular role label guarantees a result.

How elemental resonance works
According to Com2uS Holdings, elemental resonance unlocks when the Soul Research Lab reaches level 10. Set three of the four ally or skill slots to the same element and the remaining slot changes to that element. Once the feature is unlocked, consider whether a lineup can meet the three-of-four condition without giving up effects the stage needs. Elemental alignment is a tool for shaping a deck, not a reason by itself to discard useful control, buffs, or damage.
Use the five-ally formation and training mode
An official update report describes expanding the ally formation from four allies to five. The same report describes a training mode where players can configure allies, skills, relics, pets, and stage mechanics to experiment with combinations. This makes testing more useful than relying on a generic team recipe: keep the target stage in view and change a lineup element at a time so you can judge the effect of each change. - Identify the stage’s demand. Decide whether your current attempt would benefit most from control, a team buff, elemental alignment, or another damage effect.
- Choose a five-ally arrangement. Fill the formation with allies whose effects serve complementary functions rather than treating five slots as five interchangeable damage picks.
- Review the skills and other configuration. Check the skill effects and the relics or pets you have set; training mode allows these to be configured alongside allies and stage mechanics.
- Test and compare. Use training mode to compare candidate combinations against the same target content. Note which effects are active and whether the revised combination addresses the problem you identified.
For a focused comparison, consider four questions: which elemental effects can the lineup activate or align; what control, buffs, or damage does it add; does the stage reward those effects; and does your account have the levels or awakenings needed for them?
What changes in later progression
Elemental planning gains another layer later in the game. Com2uS Holdings’ second-anniversary article says the Core Research Lab opens at Conqueror stage 12,000. Players strengthen five elemental cores, and matching-element cores placed adjacent to one another provide extra stats; layout shape and the number of neighboring cores can also affect bonuses. Why there is no universal best team
The official material documents formation size, experimentation tools, and examples of ally and skill effects, but it does not provide a controlled lineup comparison or a current tier list. The best choice can therefore depend on the mode or stage, the effects available on your account, and the levels or awakenings those effects require. Treat named combinations as candidates to test, not as universally optimal recommendations.
