The Sony 85-inch X77L Series 4K TV was reported at $998 during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days in October 2024, down from a stated regular price of $1,498. That promotion is historical: it does not establish that the TV is currently $500 off or even in stock.
Which Sony TV was the $500-off deal?
The offer covered Sony’s 85-inch X77L Series LED Smart Google TV, described as a 4K Ultra HD model. NJ.com reported the Amazon promotion on October 8, 2024. The article did not identify an exact retail SKU, so shoppers should verify the full model number on any listing before treating it as the same television.
What the reported price tells you
| Offer detail | Reported information |
|---|---|
| Sale price | $998 during Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, as reported by NJ.com on October 8, 2024 |
| Prior price | $1,498, as stated in the same 2024 report |
| Stated reduction | $500, calculated from those reported prices |
| Current price and availability | Not established by the dated report |
Because the available price evidence is from 2024, do not use $998 as a current offer or assume the discount is still active. Check the retailer listing for the exact model, present price, stock, delivery terms, and return policy before buying.

NJ.com’s deal report attributes Google TV, Google Assistant, Alexa, Apple AirPlay, Motionflow XR, Auto HDR Tone Mapping, and Auto Genre Picture Mode to the television. Confirm feature support against the exact regional model and listing: the report does not provide a complete model number, and similarly named Sony TVs may differ.

How to compare it with other 85-inch Sony offers
Other deal reports name different Sony televisions; their prices are not evidence of the X77L’s value or current price. MacRumors listed an 85-inch Sony BRAVIA 3 II at $1,498, down from $1,599.99, and an 85-inch BRAVIA 9 at $2,998, down from $3,798, in a 2026 roundup. Redmond Pie reported a separate 85-inch BRAVIA 3 deal at $1,098 against an approximately $1,600 prior price on January 17, 2026. These are distinct model and offer references, not controlled comparisons.
- Match the full model number and generation, not just screen size or the Sony name.
- Compare display technology and the HDMI and gaming capabilities you need.
- Check the date and retailer for each quoted promotion; deal prices can change or expire.
- Review the current seller’s availability, delivery, and return terms before deciding.
A price comparison alone cannot show which model has better picture quality. The cited deal coverage does not provide a controlled performance comparison.
