Sony’s 30th Anniversary PS5 collection brings the original PlayStation’s gray design to current consoles and accessories. The top-tier PS5 Pro bundle is individually numbered and limited to 12,300 consoles worldwide; the PS5 Digital Edition bundle is a disc-less alternative with a standard DualSense controller and themed collectibles.
What is in the PS5 30th Anniversary collection?
Announced on September 19, 2024, the collection commemorates the original PlayStation, which launched on December 3, 1994. Sony says the limited-edition products apply the original console’s color design to current PS5 hardware. The range includes two PS5 bundles, a PlayStation Portal, a DualSense Edge controller and a DualSense controller. Sony’s announcement describes the collection; the official 30th Anniversary page presents the products.
PS5 Pro vs. PS5 Digital Edition: what’s different?
The Pro bundle is the more fully equipped collector package, while the Digital Edition bundle provides the anniversary look at the digital, disc-less console tier. Sony’s cited materials do not give an equivalent production quantity for the Digital Edition bundle.
| Feature | PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary bundle | PS5 Digital Edition 30th Anniversary bundle |
|---|---|---|
| Console tier | PS5 Pro | PS5 Digital Edition |
| Production quantity | 12,300 globally; each console is individually numbered, according to Sony | Limited edition; Sony’s cited pages do not state a quantity |
| Controller | DualSense Edge wireless controller | Standard DualSense wireless controller |
| Charging hardware | DualSense charging station | Not listed in Sony’s bundle summary |
| Disc drive | PS5 Pro hardware; check the exact configuration with the seller | Disc drive sold separately; bundle includes a cover for the drive |
| Shared anniversary items | Includes the Digital Edition bundle’s listed themed items | Poster, cable connector housing, four cable ties, sticker and paperclip |
Sony’s collection page says the 12,300 numbered PS5 Pro consoles are available globally. Its announcement lists the Digital Edition bundle’s items: a vertical stand, one of 30 possible poster designs, an original PlayStation-style cable connector housing, four PlayStation Shapes cable ties, a sticker and a paperclip, as well as the console and matching accessories. The Pro bundle includes those items in addition to its DualSense Edge controller and charging station.

Is the 30th Anniversary PS5 Pro numbered, and how many were made?
Yes. Sony says every PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary console is individually numbered and that only 12,300 will be available for customers to purchase globally. That figure applies to the numbered Pro consoles; Sony’s cited sources do not establish the Digital Edition bundle’s total quantity. Sony’s collection page states the Pro figure.
Where can you buy a 30th Anniversary PS5, and is it still available?
Sony directs customers to PlayStation Direct and select participating retailers while supplies last. The PlayStation Direct product page lists the PS5 Pro bundle, but a product page alone does not confirm current stock. Check PlayStation Direct and authorized retailers for live availability, price and seller details. On resale marketplaces, verify that the seller is legitimate and that the listing matches the bundle being offered; stock and resale prices can change.

Is an anniversary PS5 worth buying for a collector?
The case for buying one is its design, included memorabilia and scarcity—not a documented performance advantage over the corresponding regular console. Sony’s cited materials establish the products and bundle contents but do not provide a resale valuation or performance benchmark for the anniversary editions.

The Pro bundle is the clearer choice for someone who specifically wants a numbered console and the extra DualSense Edge controller and charging station. The Digital Edition bundle suits a collector who prefers the disc-less PS5 package and its themed items, but remember that its disc drive is a separate purchase and Sony has not stated a matching production number. Compare a live asking price with what the design and included extras are worth to you rather than treating the limited run as a guaranteed investment.
