The Sony XR-65X90K is a 65-inch, 2022 BRAVIA XR 4K Full Array LED television with HDR and Google TV. RTINGS reports strong contrast for dark-room viewing, strong SDR peak brightness and useful gaming features, but also some blooming, limited viewing angles and difficulty overcoming glare. It can suit a darker room and gaming setup; wide seating or bright-window rooms are less favorable. Because Sony’s X90K is an older model, weigh its current listing price, condition and warranty against newer options before buying.
What the Sony XR-65X90K is
Sony classifies the XR-65X90K as a BRAVIA XR Full Array LED 4K Ultra HD HDR Google TV. Sony Canada lists the screen as 65 inches, or 64.5 inches viewable; that specification comes from regional product documentation, so check the local Sony listing for your market. Sony’s official product information is available on the XR-65X90K support page and Canadian specifications page.
This review is specifically about the 65-inch XR-65X90K. RTINGS reviews the X90K/X90CK family, rather than providing a separate 65-inch-only assessment. Its review page notes that testing used an older methodology, so some results may not be directly comparable with products measured under its later methodology. The page reports a retest dated September 26, 2025, and was updated October 2, 2023. See the RTINGS Sony X90K/X90CK review.

RTINGS describes the X90K’s contrast as strong for dark-room viewing. That can make dark scenes more satisfying than on a TV with weaker contrast, but the review also reports some blooming: bright objects may produce a visible halo against darker areas. How noticeable that is depends on the content and viewing conditions.

RTINGS also reports strong SDR peak brightness. That finding should not be read as proof that the TV will handle every bright room well: the same review says it has difficulty overcoming glare from bright windows or lights. If daytime viewing is a priority, consider both direct glare and where the screen will sit before choosing this model.
Viewing angles and seating
RTINGS reports limited viewing angles. Picture quality is therefore a more suitable fit when most viewers sit relatively in front of the screen than when a large group watches from seats spread across a wide room. If your seating is broad, compare a model with better off-angle performance rather than assuming the 65-inch screen will look equally good from every seat.

Gaming features
RTINGS rates the X90K as good for gaming, citing HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, variable refresh rate (VRR), quick response time and low input lag. These features make it a credible option for compatible consoles or gaming PCs. Sony’s regional documentation does not establish specific resolution-and-refresh combinations for every input, so check the TV’s regional documentation and the capabilities of your source device if a particular gaming mode is essential.
Is the XR-65X90K still worth buying?
The X90K is a 2022 model. RTINGS says it was superseded by the X90L/X90CL in 2023. That does not by itself make the older set a poor choice, but it means the decision should be based on the actual offer rather than its original positioning. No current price or availability is established here.

- Consider it if the specific listing is attractively priced, the set’s condition and warranty are acceptable, and your room and seating suit its glare and viewing-angle limitations.
- Compare newer alternatives if the X90K costs close to a current model, you need better performance from wide seating or bright rooms, or you want to prioritize newer product support.
- Verify before paying that the listing is the exact XR-65X90K, and confirm seller, condition, included accessories, return terms and warranty for your region.
For price comparisons, use the same criteria across options: room brightness and glare, seating width, dark-scene blooming, gaming requirements, model age, condition and warranty. These factors matter more than comparing a listing price in isolation.

The Sony XR-65X90K is a capable older 65-inch 4K TV on paper: RTINGS reports strong dark-room contrast, strong SDR peak brightness and gaming-friendly features. Its reported blooming, limited viewing angles and glare handling are meaningful constraints, and its age makes the listing’s price, condition and warranty central to the purchase decision.
