No: the available price evidence does not support a discount of more than 50% on Sony’s WH-1000XX headphones. Sony’s US product page lists them at $649.99, while an October 5, 2026 report found Amazon offers at $598 in the US and £474 in the UK—reductions of roughly 8% and 14% from the reference prices cited in that report. Prices can change, so check the live listing before buying.
What are the Sony WH-1000XX headphones?
WH-1000XX is the model designation for Sony’s 1000X THE COLLEXXION wireless noise-canceling headphones. Sony’s US store uses the retail model code WH-1000XX/B. The product name and model code identify the headphones; they do not substantiate the headline’s claim that they are stainless steel.
Sony describes the construction as premium materials with metal accents and soft vegan leather. That supports describing them as having metal accents, but not as being made entirely of stainless steel.
What does the Sony WH-1000XX cost, and is it over 50% off?
Sony Electronics’ US product page lists the WH-1000XX/B at $649.99. TechRadar reported Amazon prices on October 5, 2026 of $598 in the US, down from $649.99, and £474 in the UK, down from £549. Those are reductions of about 8% and 14%, respectively—not more than 50%. The percentage reductions are calculated from the reported prices and reference prices.

What should you check before buying?
- Confirm the exact model: look for WH-1000XX or WH-1000XX/B and the 1000X THE COLLEXXION name so you can distinguish it from other Sony 1000X headphones.
- Compare prices within the same region: evaluate the sale price against a reference price for the same market, rather than comparing a US list price with a UK offer.
- Check the seller and terms: verify who is selling the headphones and review warranty and return terms on the live listing.
- Match specifications to your use: compare battery life with noise canceling on or off, codec compatibility with your device, and the app controls you expect to use.
- Read materials claims carefully: Sony specifies metal accents and vegan leather; the available product information does not establish an all-stainless-steel construction.
