The Sony ULT TOWER 7 (model SRS-ULT700) is a large, bass-forward party speaker with a manufacturer-rated battery life of approximately 30 hours, dedicated microphone and instrument connections, and built-in wheels and handles. It is a practical fit for hosts, karaoke users, and performers who want substantial sound and flexible inputs. Its roughly 50-pound weight, vertical-only IPX4 rating, and reviewer-noted sharp treble are important compromises. Tom’s Guide reviewer Nikita Achanta reported a US price of $648 and a UK price of £499 on 28 September 2026; those are review-time prices, not guaranteed current offers.
What the Sony ULT Tower 7 is built to do
The ULT TOWER 7 is designed for room-filling party playback, with bass emphasis and connections for microphones and instruments. Sony’s specification lists one approximately 11.02-inch woofer, two approximately 4.72-inch midrange drivers, two approximately 1.97-inch front tweeters, and two rear tweeters. Its ULT1 and ULT2 modes provide bass-focused options, while FLAT and LIVE offer other voicings; a custom 10-band EQ is also listed.
Tom’s Guide reviewer Nikita Achanta praised the speaker’s low-end impact and scale, and reported that vocals remained distinct during listening. Achanta also found some treble sharp or too forward. These are listening impressions from one reviewer, not lab measurements; the review says the app’s EQ can help adjust the treble.
Sound coverage: big presentation, not truly immersive 360-degree audio
The multiple front and rear drivers create a broad presentation, but Achanta found the rear sound less immersive than the 360-degree description might imply. If listeners will be spread around the speaker, treat the rear coverage as a useful part of the design rather than assuming it sounds equally enveloping in every direction.

Battery life: a 30-hour rating, not a promise at every setting
Sony lists approximately 30 hours of battery life, and its UK product page describes this as “up to 30 hours.” That is a rated maximum; actual runtime depends on factors including volume, lighting, and EQ settings. The speaker can also operate from AC power, according to the review.
Achanta reported listening for four hours at varied levels and presets with 80% battery remaining. That is a reviewer-reported observation, not a controlled endurance test and not evidence that every use pattern will deliver a particular total runtime.

Inputs and wireless features for parties and performance
Sony’s published connections include RCA input, XLR input and output, USB-A, USB-C, and a 6.3 mm microphone input. This selection gives the Tower 7 flexibility for a party setup that includes a microphone or connected audio equipment. Sony markets it for DJ and microphone use; Tom’s Guide also describes it as suitable for karaoke and instrument connections.

Sony lists Bluetooth 5.3 with SBC, AAC, and LDAC codec support, plus Stereo Pair and Party Chain speaker-add functions. The available modes are ULT1, ULT2, FLAT, and LIVE, alongside a custom 10-band EQ. Sony specifies a 20 Hz–20 kHz transmission range at a 44.1 kHz sampling rate; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independent frequency-response measurement.

Size, wheels, and weather protection
At approximately 16.57 × 27.95 × 13.66 inches and 50.27 lb, the Tower 7 is substantial. Sony’s UK product page describes handles and wheels, which help move it between locations, but Achanta still found it awkward to wheel. It is better thought of as a speaker you can roll into place than one you will casually carry.
Sony rates it IPX4 when placed vertically. That means the stated protection applies to splashes in that orientation; it does not establish dust resistance or make the speaker waterproof. For outdoor use, keep the unit upright and avoid treating the rating as permission to leave it exposed to heavy weather.

The combination of bass-focused playback, microphone and instrument connectivity, app-based EQ and lighting controls, and battery operation makes it more versatile than a speaker intended only for casual background listening. The weight and limited weather rating matter more if you need frequent carrying or rugged outdoor use.
