The Sony KD-75X77L is a 2023 75-inch 4K LED TV with Google TV, a native 60 Hz panel, HDR10 and HLG support, and three HDMI inputs. Its official specifications establish what it connects to and supports, but they do not establish measured picture quality, gaming input lag, or whether it is a good value at today’s prices. This review explains what the listed features mean and what to check before buying.

What is the Sony KD-75X77L?

Sony identifies the KD-75X77L as part of its 2023 lineup. It has a 75-inch class screen—74.5 inches measured diagonally—with 3840 × 2160 resolution and Google TV. Sony lists Google Assistant, Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay, and HomeKit support. Sony’s product page and official specifications describe the feature set; they are not independent assessments of how well the TV performs.

Picture and HDR: what the specifications establish

Resolution and panel

The TV is a 4K LCD with a Direct LED backlight and frame dimming. Sony names its image processor the 4K Processor X1 and its upscaling feature 4K X-Reality PRO. Those are manufacturer feature descriptions; they do not provide measured brightness, contrast, color accuracy, viewing angles, or upscaling quality.

HDR formats

Sony lists HDR10 and HLG support. Dolby Vision is not listed on the official specification page, so do not assume the set supports it. Format support alone also cannot show how bright HDR highlights appear or how much detail the screen preserves in dark scenes.

  • DTS Virtual-X Sound: An immersive sound format creates a three-dimensional sound experience with your TV’s speakers.

Refresh rate and motion

The native panel refresh rate is 60 Hz. Sony also uses the Motionflow XR 240 label, but that is not a 240 Hz native refresh rate. If you are comparing televisions for sports, fast action, or gaming, compare native refresh rates and independent motion testing rather than treating the Motionflow label as a panel specification.

Gaming and PS5 features

Sony lists Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) for HDMI 3. For PS5, the company lists Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode, which it says optimize picture settings when a PS5 is connected directly. These listed features do not make the TV a high-refresh gaming display: its panel is 60 Hz, and Sony does not list VRR support. The specifications also do not establish input lag or overall gaming responsiveness.

Sound and external audio

The built-in audio system is listed as two full-range bass-reflex speakers with 10 W + 10 W output and Dolby Audio support. Sony does not list DTS support. These specifications describe the system, not its subjective sound quality. For a soundbar or receiver, use the eARC/ARC connection as appropriate and check the audio formats your equipment needs.

Size, weight, and mounting

With its stand in the standard position, the TV measures 66.5 × 41.25 × 16.38 inches. Sony lists its weight as 69.9 lb (31.7 kg) with the stand and 67 lb (30.4 kg) without it. The VESA mounting pattern is 300 × 300 mm. Before installation, confirm the mount supports the pattern and the TV’s weight, and consult the exact installation instructions. Sony’s KD-75X77L manuals and support resources include model-specific materials and a SU-WL855 wall-mount bracket guide.

Price and buying considerations

Sony’s US product page displayed $1,099.99 during the source check, but that is a time-sensitive manufacturer-page listing—not a verified current street price, stock status, or price available from other sellers. Check the price, seller, and condition at the time you buy. Sony’s US support page showed firmware update 60842000 dated June 9, 2026; firmware and support listings can change, so consult the live support page for current resources.

For a meaningful comparison with another 75-inch TV, weigh the native refresh rate and VRR/ALLM support, HDR formats, independently measured brightness and contrast, viewing angles and reflections, HDMI capabilities, audio needs, mounting constraints, smart-platform requirements, and current price. Sony’s listed specifications answer some connectivity and format questions, but they do not support a measured performance ranking or a value verdict against competing models.
