The Sony K-65XR80 is the 65-inch 2024 BRAVIA 8 OLED: a 4K, 120Hz Google TV with vivid color, deep blacks, Dolby Vision support, and gaming features including VRR. Its strongest fit is a room where OLED contrast and Sony’s picture presentation matter more than peak brightness. Before buying, check whether a direct reflection will hit the screen and whether two 4K/120Hz-capable HDMI inputs are enough for your devices.
What is the Sony K-65XR80?
The K-65XR80 is Sony’s 65-inch-class BRAVIA 8 OLED for 2024. Sony lists a 3840 × 2160 resolution and a 120Hz panel refresh rate. The measured diagonal screen size is 64.5 inches. These details come from Sony’s UK and India specification pages; regional versions and services can differ.
Sony lists HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision compatibility, plus Google TV. App and service availability varies by market, so check Sony’s local support information and the services you use before choosing a regional model.

OLED contrast and color
RTINGS tested a purchased 65-inch BRAVIA 8 and reports perfect black levels and a wide range of vibrant colors. Those OLED strengths make dark scenes and colorful HDR content compelling. RTINGS also found HDR gaming impactful, though its HDR brightness in Game Mode was only decent.

Brightness and reflections
RTINGS says the TV’s SDR brightness can handle indirect lighting, but a light source directly opposite the screen creates a quite visible reflection. If a window or lamp is positioned behind your viewing position, its reflection may be distracting even when the room is not especially bright. Consider the screen’s position relative to windows and lamps before purchase.
What Hi-Fi? praised the set overall but observed that it does not reach the brightness of Sony’s A95L or LG G4. That is the publication’s comparative review judgment, not a claim that the BRAVIA 8 is unsuitable for every bright room.

Is it a good TV for gaming?
Sony lists 4K/120Hz, variable refresh rate (VRR), and auto low latency mode (ALLM) among the TV’s HDMI features. However, the four HDMI inputs are not interchangeable for high-refresh gaming: RTINGS identifies HDMI inputs 3 and 4 as supporting up to 4K at 120Hz. Plan which devices need those ports before connecting everything.

HDMI 3 is also the eARC connection for a compatible soundbar or receiver. If you use eARC and have multiple 4K/120Hz sources, you may need to switch connections when gaming or use an audio setup that fits your available ports. TechRadar reported 12.8 ms input lag for the BRAVIA 8 in its gaming-TV roundup; that is a reviewer measurement under its test conditions, not a Sony specification.

What should you check before buying?
- Room layout: Check whether a window or lamp will reflect directly from your usual viewing position.
- Gaming devices: Count the consoles and PCs that need 4K/120Hz, then account for HDMI 3’s eARC role.
- Streaming: Confirm that the apps and services you rely on are available for Google TV in your country.
- Local listing: Match the exact K-65XR80 identifier. K-65XR80C, K-65XR80M2, XR8B, and other suffixes or names can refer to distinct model identifiers.
- Price and warranty: Compare the current price and warranty in your market with competing TVs; neither current price nor country-specific warranty terms are established here.
Will it fit your stand or wall?
Sony lists the TV at approximately 144.2 × 82.9 × 3.7 cm and 22.3 kg without the stand. Its VESA mounting pattern is 300 × 300 mm. Confirm that a wall mount is rated for the TV’s weight and VESA pattern, and check the mount’s clearances and installation requirements. Sony notes that stand dimensions and width vary with installation position.

Consider the K-65XR80 if you want OLED black levels, vivid color, Dolby Vision, Google TV, and 4K/120Hz gaming in a 65-inch set—and your room and device connections suit its limitations. Look elsewhere if direct reflections are hard to avoid, you need more than two 4K/120Hz inputs, or your priority is greater brightness than the BRAVIA 8 offers relative to Sony’s A95L or LG G4. Whether it is the best buy depends on your local price, warranty, and alternatives.
