The Sony K-65S20M2, sold in the US as the BRAVIA 2 II 65-inch class 4K HDR LED Google TV (2025), is a mainstream living-room set. Sony’s published specifications describe an LCD panel with a native 60 Hz refresh rate, HDR10 and HLG support, four HDMI inputs, and a gaming feature list that includes ALLM and PS5 picture modes but no variable refresh rate (VRR). If you want a 120 Hz or VRR gaming display, this model’s published specs do not describe one.

This review is built from Sony’s own US product and support pages. We have not measured this television’s brightness, contrast, color, motion, or input lag, and we have not viewed it in a controlled test. Where the article discusses picture quality, it explains what to check, not how the set performed.

What the K-65S20M2 is

Sony’s US support specification page lists the diagonal as 65 inches, measured at 64.5 inches, and the display as an LCD with direct LED backlighting. The product page for the set is titled with “Gemini,” but the feature list it publishes centers on Google TV, Google Assistant, and Sony’s picture processing. The table below collects the published values. Where Sony does not list a figure, the table says so rather than filling the gap.

Picture and HDR: what is confirmed and what is not

The published picture specification establishes three things: the panel is 4K, it uses a direct LED backlight, and it accepts HDR10 and HLG signals. It does not establish how bright the set gets in HDR, how much contrast a dark room will show, how well it holds color at high brightness, or how it handles reflections in a bright room.

Those are the numbers that separate one 65-inch LCD from another, and Sony’s published specifications leave them out. For a buying decision, check independent reviews that publish measured brightness and color for this exact model before relying on picture quality. Check the same reviews for uniformity and for how the set handles letterboxed HDR movies, since LCDs with local dimming behave differently from edge-lit or non-dimmed panels.

Gaming and PlayStation 5

Sony’s gaming list is short, and it should be read exactly as written. The page lists a native 60 Hz refresh rate, Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM), and two PS5-oriented picture features: Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode. It does not list VRR, and the “Features specified in HDMI2.1” field names eARC and ALLM.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

In practice, that means:

  • The set is specified at 60 Hz. Do not expect 120 Hz output from a PS5 or other console, and do not assume 4K/120 support from the HDMI 2.1 label on the spec sheet.
  • ALLM is listed, so a console that signals game content can switch the TV into its low-latency mode automatically.
  • Auto HDR Tone Mapping and Auto Genre Picture Mode are listed as PS5 features. Sony’s marketing describes the TV as suitable for PS5, but the feature list does not establish measured input lag or the quality of the tone mapping.

If your priority is high-refresh gaming, a 120 Hz panel with VRR is the feature to look for. This model does not list one.

Ports and connections

Sony lists four HDMI inputs, one of which carries eARC (ARC is also supported), and two USB ports on the side. The spec page does not state which HDMI input carries eARC, so check the rear panel label on the set you receive, or confirm in the owner’s manual, before connecting a soundbar or receiver.

INSIGNIA 65-inch Class QF Series LED 4K UHD QLED Smart Fire TV with Alexa Voice Remote (NS65-UQFL26)
  • 4K UltraHD Resolution: Experience incredible detail with 4X resolution of 1080p Full HD TVs.
  • QLED: Quantum Dot Technology enhances brightness and color for vibrant, lifelike picture quality.
  • Direct LED Backlight: Enjoy uniform brightness and rich contrast for a vibrant, immersive viewing experience.
  • High Dynamic Range (HDR) with Dolby Vision: Enjoy enhanced contrast, accurate colors and fine details utilizing all the most advanced HDR formats.
  • Dolby Atmos Audio: Advanced spatial audio processing can be found in movies, TV shows, and video games.

Sony’s product page says the TV can pass Dolby Atmos through HDMI to a compatible soundbar or receiver. If you plan to use an external audio system, connect it to the eARC-labelled port and confirm the audio format in the TV’s sound settings after setup. The specification does not say whether a special HDMI cable is needed for any listed feature, so a standard certified cable of the length you need is the expected starting point. Test the setup with your own console or streaming box; the published specs do not establish results for a given device.

Smart features and casting

The TV runs Google TV, which gives access to streaming apps through the Google Play Store, along with voice search and Google Assistant. For phone-to-TV casting, Sony’s support page lists Apple AirPlay 2, Google Cast, and Chromecast built-in, and it also lists Apple HomeKit. These are compatibility claims that depend on the phone, the app, and your home network. Wi-Fi 6E is listed, which only helps if your router supports 6 GHz.

Sony’s support FAQ asks several questions that match the reader’s own concerns, including whether the set supports HDR, what smart platform it uses, and whether you can cast from a phone. The answers appear in the sections above. Sony’s own documentation is the authoritative source for the exact list of supported casting protocols.

Sound

The built-in speakers are two full-range bass-reflex units rated 10 W + 10 W. Sony lists support for Dolby Audio, Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, and other DTS formats. Format support tells you what the TV can decode, not how the speakers sound. Expect a television speaker, not a room-filling system, and plan for a soundbar if audio matters to you.

Sony advertises a soundbar bundle offer on its US product page. Confirm which soundbar models are included, the discount terms, and whether the soundbar connects over eARC before buying the bundle.

Size, stand, and wall mount

Sony’s listed dimensions are below. Measure your furniture against the stand width and depth, and confirm your wall mount’s VESA pattern and load rating before buying a mount.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
Measurement With stand Without stand
Width 57 in 57 in
Height 35.63 in 33.38 in
Depth 12.88 in 3.38 in
Weight 44.1 lb 43.4 lb
Outside width of stand feet 47 in Not applicable
VESA hole pattern 300 × 300 mm 300 × 300 mm

The 300 × 300 mm pattern is the figure to match when choosing a wall mount. A mount that lists 300 × 300 mm and a load rating that covers about 44 lb will fit mechanically, but check that its rating covers the TV’s weight with a safety margin and that it supports 65-inch screens. The 47-inch stand width is the constraint for TV stands; a stand narrower than that will not hold the set on its feet.

Price and availability

Sony’s US product page displayed a price of $699.99 alongside a soundbar bundle discount when we checked. Retail prices and promotions change often, and bundle eligibility can depend on the soundbar model, the retailer, and the delivery region. Check Sony’s page and any retailer you are considering for the current price, promotion terms, and stock before buying. We do not have independent evidence of the typical street price or how this model compares on value with other 65-inch TVs.

Who this set suits

Based only on the published specifications, the K-65S20M2 fits buyers who want a 65-inch 4K HDR Google TV for streaming and general viewing, who can accept 60 Hz, and who plan to add a soundbar or use an external audio system. It is a weaker fit for buyers who need 120 Hz or VRR for gaming, need measured HDR brightness for a bright room, or have limited stand or wall space.

Before buying, compare three things with other 65-inch sets from independent reviews: measured HDR brightness and contrast, native refresh and VRR support, and stand and VESA fit for your space. Those comparisons, not the spec sheet alone, will show whether this set is the better value for your room.
