The Sony K-55XR80M2 is the US 55-inch version of Sony’s 2025 BRAVIA 8 II OLED 4K Google TV. Sony’s specifications describe a 120 Hz panel, Dolby Vision support and HDMI gaming features including 4K120 and VRR. Those specifications make it a feature-rich candidate for movies and gaming, but they do not establish how bright it gets, how accurately it renders images, or how responsive it feels in measured testing. The available independent review listing identifies a hands-on comparison but does not provide numerical results or enough detail to support a performance verdict.

What is the Sony K-55XR80M2?

K-55XR80M2 is Sony’s US model designation for the 55-inch BRAVIA 8 II (XR80), a 2025 OLED 4K television running Google TV. Sony specifies a 3840 × 2160 resolution, a 120 Hz panel refresh rate and its XR Processor. The screen’s measured diagonal is 54.6 inches. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements of picture quality. Sony’s K-55XR80M2 specifications provide the model-specific details.

How good is its picture quality?

The published specifications establish the panel type, resolution, refresh rate and supported HDR formats; they do not tell you how the TV performs in a room. Sony lists Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG compatibility. Format support alone does not show peak brightness, tone-mapping quality, color accuracy, near-black detail, screen uniformity or reflection handling.

HDTVTest’s review listing, dated July 18, 2025, identifies its sample as the 55-inch K55XR80M2 and says it compared picture quality with the A95L and Panasonic Z95B using a Sony BVM-HX3110 mastering monitor as a reference. The listing does not include numerical test results or the reviewer’s full conclusions, so it cannot support a specific brightness figure or a claim that this TV beats either competitor. Is the K-55XR80M2 suitable for gaming?

Sony lists HDMI signal support up to 3840 × 2160 at 120 Hz and groups 4K120, eARC, VRR, ALLM and SBTM among the model’s HDMI 2.1 features. This indicates support for current high-refresh gaming signals and variable refresh rate, but it is not a measurement of input lag, motion handling or the visual impact of HDR in games. Check the model’s help guide for port-by-port feature allocation before choosing which HDMI input to use; the specification summary does not establish that allocation.

What smart features and connections are included?

The television runs Google TV and supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, Apple AirPlay and Chromecast built-in, according to Sony. These are listed connectivity and platform features; device compatibility and app availability can vary. Sony’s US product listing identifies remote RMF-TX820U. Do not assume an international BRAVIA 8 II variant includes the same remote or components.

How does the built-in sound work, and do you need a soundbar?

Sony specifies Acoustic Surface Audio+ with two actuators and two subwoofers. Its listed amplifier output is 15 W + 15 W + 10 W + 10 W, and the TV supports Dolby Atmos. Sony also lists Acoustic Center Sync, which can use a compatible Sony soundbar as the center channel in a supported setup. These specifications do not establish perceived volume, dialogue clarity or bass quality, so whether the built-in audio is sufficient depends on your room and preferences.

Will it fit on a stand or wall mount?

Without its stand, Sony lists the TV at 48.19 × 27.83 × 1.34 inches. The outside stand width is 48.25 inches, and the stand has two positions, including an outside position intended to make room for a soundbar. The VESA mounting-hole pattern is 300 × 300 mm. Before buying a mount, confirm its fit and weight rating, your wall construction, and the required clearances; Sony also provides model-specific SU-WL905 and SU-WL855 wall-mount documentation.

Is the Sony K-55XR80M2 worth buying?

On paper, the K-55XR80M2 combines an OLED 4K, 120 Hz panel with Dolby Vision, VRR and other current video and gaming compatibility features, plus Sony’s distinctive screen-based audio system. That makes its feature set easy to assess, but not its value or performance: the available evidence does not establish a current US price, measured picture quality, gaming latency or a comparable result against competing TVs. Base a purchase decision on current local pricing and independent measurements that cover the viewing conditions and performance traits that matter to you.
