The original Sony INZONE H9 (WH-G900N) pairs noise canceling and ambient sound modes with 2.4 GHz gaming audio, Bluetooth, and dedicated game/chat controls. Its biggest practical trade-off is battery life: Sony’s maximum of 32 hours applies with noise canceling off, while its Help Guide lists up to 20 hours for game and chat with noise canceling on and Bluetooth off. Whether the H9 is a good buy also depends on your fit, platform-specific customization needs, and current local price.
What the INZONE H9 offers
Sony positions the original INZONE H9 as a wireless gaming headset for PC and PlayStation 5. Its feature set combines a USB transceiver for 2.4 GHz audio, Bluetooth, noise canceling, an ambient sound mode, and a flip-up boom microphone that mutes when raised. Sony also lists game/chat balance control, PC sound customization through INZONE Hub, and support for PS5 Tempest 3D AudioTech. Sony’s product page describes using Bluetooth with a smartphone while connected to 2.4 GHz wireless for gaming.
Pros
Game and phone connections can run together
The H9’s 2.4 GHz transceiver connection handles gaming audio while Bluetooth connects to a phone. Sony says this lets you take phone calls or use voice chat from the phone while the game connection remains active—a useful arrangement if you want both sources available without switching headsets.
Noise control includes an awareness option
The headset offers both noise canceling and an ambient sound mode, with a dedicated control for switching modes. Those options give you a way to reduce surrounding noise or hear more of it, depending on where you are and what you need to notice.

Gaming controls are built into the headset
The boom microphone mutes when flipped up, and a separate control adjusts the game/chat balance. These hardware controls make common gaming adjustments accessible without relying solely on software.
PC and PS5 features address different needs
On PC, Sony’s INZONE Hub supports sound customization, including EQ. On PS5, Sony lists Tempest 3D AudioTech support. These are distinct platform features; the official information cited here does not establish that the same EQ controls are available on both platforms.

Battery life falls with noise canceling enabled
The headline maximum needs its setting attached: Sony lists up to 32 hours for game and chat with Bluetooth off and noise canceling/ambient mode off. Its Help Guide lists up to 20 hours for game and chat with noise canceling enabled and Bluetooth off. Both are manufacturer maximums, not guaranteed real-world runtimes. Sony’s Help Guide battery table also lists up to 15 hours for Bluetooth phone calls with noise canceling on, up to 16 hours for AAC music playback with noise canceling on, and up to 15 hours for SBC music playback with noise canceling on.

Comfort and fit are individual
Sony describes a soft headband cushion and ear pads, but those details cannot predict how the headset will fit a particular person. In a 2022 comparison with the Pulse 3D, one owner described the H9 as slightly more comfortable, while also reporting that it could slide when looking down. Treat both comments as one person’s experience, not a universal comfort verdict. Read the owner comparison.
Current value depends on local pricing
The same 2022 owner called the H9 more expensive than the Pulse 3D, but that dated comparison does not establish today’s price or whether the H9 is good value against current alternatives. Check current listings in your region before deciding.

PS5 EQ claims need careful interpretation
The owner comparison also reported being unable to adjust EQ on PS5. Sony documents EQ customization through INZONE Hub on PC and Tempest 3D AudioTech support on PS5; those facts do not confirm the current state of PS5 EQ controls. If console EQ is essential to you, verify the options available for your setup rather than treating the 2022 account as a current universal limitation.

Who should consider the H9?
- It may suit you if you want noise canceling and ambient sound options, simultaneous phone Bluetooth and 2.4 GHz game audio, and physical game/chat and microphone controls.
- Check before buying if you expect to use noise canceling for long sessions, need particular EQ controls on PS5, or are sensitive to headset fit and movement.
- Compare current prices in your region; the available owner comparison is from 2022 and cannot settle present-day value.
How to assess the trade-offs
- Estimate runtime using your settings. If you plan to keep noise canceling on while gaming, use Sony’s up-to-20-hour maximum for game/chat with Bluetooth off as the relevant published figure, not the 32-hour maximum for noise canceling off.
- Match features to your platform. Sony documents INZONE Hub EQ customization for PC and Tempest 3D AudioTech support for PS5. Confirm the controls you need on the platform where you play.
- Consider how you will use Bluetooth. Sony supports a phone Bluetooth connection alongside 2.4 GHz gaming audio. Its published Bluetooth call and music maxima differ by mode and, for music, codec.
- Judge fit and value in context. Comfort and the reported tendency to slide are individual observations, while the cited price comparison is dated. Try the fit if possible and compare current local prices.
