There is no single HDMI port map for every Sony Bravia TV. The ports can differ in supported refresh rates and features, so check your exact model name and year against Sony’s matching HDMI tables, then confirm the labels beside the TV’s ports. On applicable recent models, Sony lists 4K 100p/120p support on HDMI 3 and HDMI 4—but support is model-specific, not guaranteed across every Bravia.
How do I find the right HDMI port on my Bravia?
- Find the exact model name and year. Check the TV label or its settings and use the model-specific support page or manual. Sony publishes separate HDMI tables by model year and series, and regional variants may differ.
- Read the labels beside the physical ports. Look for eARC/ARC where relevant, and note which HDMI inputs Sony identifies for the signal format you need.
- Match the port, source, signal, and cable. A port’s supported format and the TV’s HDMI signal-format setting both matter; a capable source or cable cannot add a feature the TV port does not support.
Sony’s HDMI 2.1 feature chart summarizes capabilities by series and year, while its HDMI terminal and signal-format tables provide more granular port information. Treat a series-level feature listing as a guide, not a guarantee for every model variant.
Which HDMI port on my Sony Bravia supports 4K 120Hz?
On applicable 2025, 2024, and 2023 models in Sony’s terminal tables, HDMI 3 and HDMI 4 are the ports listed for 4K 100p/120p. Confirm that your exact model supports the signal: not every TV represented in a series or year supports it. Sony’s feature chart separately tracks 4K120, 8K60, eARC, VRR, and ALLM by series and year.
For context, Sony’s chart lists the 2025 BRAVIA 5 and BRAVIA 8 II series with 4K120, eARC, VRR, and ALLM; BRAVIA 3 and BRAVIA 2 II are listed with eARC and ALLM, but not 4K120 or VRR. For 2024, BRAVIA 9, 8, and 7 are listed with 4K120, eARC, VRR, and ALLM, while BRAVIA 3 is listed with eARC and ALLM. These are chart entries for series, not assurances for every regional model.

Some older models’ listed features require a software update. Check the exact model’s support information before choosing a port or relying on a feature. For the source device, connect to the supported input and select the required enhanced HDMI signal format if the TV’s manual specifies one.
Which HDMI port should I use for a soundbar?
Use the TV’s HDMI IN port marked eARC/ARC and connect it to the soundbar’s TV OUT port marked eARC/ARC. Sony’s soundbar connection instructions say to check the TV’s port label: if HDMI IN lacks the eARC/ARC label, that input does not support the audio-return function.

Both the TV and soundbar or receiver must support ARC or eARC for that feature to work. Sony describes eARC as an improved version of ARC that sends audio through HDMI to decoding devices such as receivers and soundbars (Sony USA Support: “What is the enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC) feature?”, modified August 31, 2026). If one device lacks ARC/eARC, an optical connection may be an alternative, depending on the equipment.
Does every HDMI port support eARC?
No. Use the port specifically labeled eARC/ARC; other HDMI inputs may not provide audio return. Sony’s chart tracks eARC by model series and year, but the physical port label and the exact model’s documentation are the checks to use for your setup. ARC and eARC also require compatible support on both connected devices.

What HDMI cable do I need for my Bravia TV?
Choose the cable for the actual source signal and the requirements Sony gives for your model and port. Sony discusses Premium High Speed HDMI cables rated for 18 Gbps and Ultra High Speed HDMI cables rated for 48 Gbps. Some high-bandwidth 4K 100p/120p connections require an Ultra High Speed cable; that does not mean every Bravia connection needs one.
- For a specified 4K 100p/120p connection: check Sony’s terminal guidance for the exact model. Where Sony requires it, use an Ultra High Speed HDMI cable and set the input to the specified enhanced signal format.
- For other connections: follow the TV and source manufacturers’ requirements. Do not buy a higher cable category solely because the TV has HDMI ports.
Sony’s terminal guidance covers signal-format requirements, and its HDMI cable guidance explains the cable categories.
