The Sony BRAVIA 3 II is a 2026 4K HDR LED Google TV series, but independent testing covers only the 65-inch K-65XR30M2. RTINGS found that sample offers a broad viewing angle and smooth motion, but weak contrast, uneven blacks and limited HDR impact make it a poor fit for dark-room viewing. Size matters: the 65- and 75-inch versions have matte screens, while panel types are confirmed only for the 50-inch VA model and the tested 65-inch IPS model.

What the BRAVIA 3 II review actually tested

RTINGS published its independent Sony BRAVIA 3 II review on August 6, 2026. Its test sample was the 65-inch K-65XR30M2, not all seven sizes. RTINGS describes the series as a mid-range 2026 model replacing the 2024 BRAVIA 3. Its measured findings should therefore be read as results for that sample; they are not a guarantee that each screen size performs identically.

For the 65-inch set, RTINGS reports a good viewing angle and smooth motion, alongside low contrast, uneven black uniformity and limited HDR impact. The review says it is better suited to daytime viewing when ambient light is not excessive than to a dark room. Those are independent reviewer findings, not Sony specifications or first-hand testing for this article.

How the screen sizes differ

Sony lists seven US models: K-43XR30M2, K-50XR30M2, K-55XR30M2, K-65XR30M2, K-75XR30M2, K-85XR30M2 and K-100XR30M2. RTINGS reports that only the 65- and 75-inch versions have matte screen coating. It confirms a VA panel in the 50-inch version and an IPS panel in its tested 65-inch sample; its review says panel type is unclear for the other listed sizes.

RTINGS says it expects its test results to be mostly valid for other sizes, but the panel and coating differences mean that expectation is not proof of identical performance. In particular, do not assume that the tested 65-inch IPS model’s viewing-angle or black-level behavior applies unchanged to the 50-inch VA version or to sizes whose panel type is unclear.

Picture quality and room fit

For bright rooms and shared seating

The 65-inch test’s broad viewing angle may help when people watch from seats off to the side. RTINGS positions the set for daytime use in rooms without excessive ambient brightness. The matte finish on the 65- and 75-inch versions is a relevant size-specific distinction, but the review does not establish that it makes either model immune to glare or suitable for every bright room.

For dark rooms and HDR films

Low contrast and uneven blacks were the principal dark-room drawbacks in RTINGS’ 65-inch findings. Limited HDR impact also means viewers seeking strong highlight contrast should compare alternatives in person or by independent measurements before choosing this series. RTINGS’ comparison set includes Sony’s BRAVIA 5 and other models; its review is a useful starting point for checking contrast, black uniformity and HDR rather than choosing on resolution alone.

Gaming, motion and connections

Sony identifies the BRAVIA 3 II as a 4K HDR LED Google TV and lists Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and DTS:X in its US product material. Sony’s product FAQ also lists gaming support including VRR, ALLM and 4K/120fps. RTINGS reports gaming support including 4K at 120 Hz on the tested 65-inch set and describes its motion handling as good. These features are useful for compatible devices, but check the specification page for the exact size before buying, especially if the number and capabilities of HDMI inputs affect your setup.

Which size should you consider?

  • Consider the 50-inch K-50XR30M2 if that screen size suits your room and you want the one smaller model whose VA panel is identified in the review. The review did not test this size, so the 65-inch performance results are not a substitute for size-specific measurements.
  • Consider the 65-inch K-65XR30M2 if you want the size directly evaluated by RTINGS and value its reported viewing angle and smooth motion, while accepting the dark-room and HDR shortcomings.
  • Consider the 75-inch K-75XR30M2 if you want the other size for which RTINGS reports a matte coating. Its panel type is unclear in that review, and it was not the test sample.
  • For the 43-, 55-, 85- or 100-inch models, choose based on room fit and the exact official specification sheet. RTINGS’ review does not identify their panel types or establish independent test results for them.

Sony’s support listing for the 43-inch model gives a measured diagonal of 42.5 inches, dimensions without the stand of 37.75 × 22.19 × 2.69 inches, and weight without the stand of 20.2 lb. Those are K-43XR30M2 specifications only; check the corresponding size’s support page for its dimensions, weight and mounting requirements.

Price and availability

Sony’s US listing for the 50-inch K-50XR30M2 showed $649.99, discounted by $50 from a stated $699.99 price when accessed on October 7, 2026. That is a time-sensitive listing snapshot for one size, not a dependable current price or a price for the rest of the series. Check the live listing and compare current local prices for the size you intend to buy. Sony’s product page also describes a movie-credit and streaming offer with terms and a registration deadline; confirm current eligibility and terms on Sony’s page rather than assuming the offer applies.

For competing sets, compare the exact size and current price alongside dark-room contrast, black uniformity, reflection handling, HDR performance, viewing angle and gaming input support. A feature list alone does not settle which model is a better fit for your room.
