Sonos Ace Ultra is a $449 wireless over-ear headphone announced on September 1, 2026, with general availability announced for September 29. Sonos lists noise cancellation, spatial and lossless audio, Bluetooth 6.0, USB-C and 3.5 mm connections, and up to 35 hours of listening with ANC or Aware mode enabled. Its distinctive Sonos-system feature, Headphone Linking, is opt-in Early Access—not a finished feature guaranteed to work with every Sonos setup.
What is Sonos Ace Ultra?
Sonos Ace Ultra is a premium wireless headphone that Sonos positions both as a standalone listening device and as part of its home-audio system. The company announced it on September 1, 2026, at a US launch price of $449, with general availability beginning September 29. Those are launch details; they do not confirm current retailer stock or the price available to you. Sonos says the headphones are available through sonos.com and select retail partners. Sonos’s launch announcement gives the date and initial pricing.
The product page lists Black and Sand color options, though configurations and availability can change. The product is part of Sonos’s wider audio system, but its system-linking feature has a separate limitation: it is still in Early Access.

Sonos also claims Ace Ultra provides up to twice as much active noise cancellation as the original Sonos Ace at frequencies up to 65 Hz. That is a comparison made by Sonos, not an independent test result; it should not be read as a measured advantage across all frequencies or listening situations. The Sonos Ace Ultra product page has the current US listing and specifications.
How Headphone Linking works—and what remains uncertain
Headphone Linking is the feature that connects Ace Ultra to a compatible Sonos speaker. Sonos describes it as opt-in Early Access, requiring a compatible speaker, Wi-Fi, and the Sonos app. The company says the feature is provided as-is and may change during development; it is not a promise of seamless linking across every Sonos device or a final feature set. Sonos’s September 1, 2026 investor announcement also identifies Headphone Linking as Early Access.

- INCREDIBLE SOUND: Custom acoustic platform delivers rich, balanced audio for music, calls and everyday listening.
- LOSSLESS AUDIO SUPPORT: USB-C lossless audio and sound profiles optimize music quality across devices and environments. Additional option to use the 3.5 mm cable for a standard analog experience.
- ACTIVE NOISE CANCELLING (ANC): block distractions at work, on flights or during your daily commute. Or use Transparency mode to let the sounds of your environment mix in with your music.
- SEAMLESS WIRELESS CONNECTIVITY: One-touch pairing with Apple & Android for easy switching across devices.
- SPATIAL AUDIO IMMERSION: Personalized dynamic head tracking, 360-degree sound for movies, music and immersive everyday listening.
If you are considering Ace Ultra mainly to route sound from your Sonos speaker to headphones, confirm that your speaker is compatible and check the current setup requirements before buying. If you only need Bluetooth or a wired connection, the listed connections are separate from this system feature.
What comes in the box and what can be replaced?
Sonos lists a travel case, a USB-C to USB-C cable, and a USB-C to 3.5 mm cable as included items. Its product page also lists replacement ear cushions and a replacement battery kit. The listing does not establish whether battery replacement is intended as a do-it-yourself task, what installation or service it requires, or whether either accessory is currently in stock. Check the product listing or contact Sonos for current compatibility and service details before ordering.

Is Sonos Ace Ultra worth considering?
The $449 launch price places Ace Ultra in the premium headphone category. Whether it is a good fit depends on what you value: the listed mix of wireless and wired connections, Sonos’s stated battery and audio features, and access to Headphone Linking if you have compatible Sonos equipment. The system feature’s Early Access status matters if it is central to your purchase.
Before comparing it with the original Sonos Ace or another premium over-ear headphone, weigh these factors:
