The Sonodyne SAMA 7000 is a 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos soundbar system with dedicated up-firing height drivers and a 10-inch wireless subwoofer. Nishant Padhiar’s 91mobiles review, published 2 October 2026, describes a substantial design and engineering refresh—not a documented firmware update—and praises dialogue clarity, a broad film soundstage and punchy bass. The review reported an Indian price of Rs 74,999 at publication; that is a dated price, not a live quote.

What changed in the SAMA 7000?

In the context of the review’s “update” framing, the change is a new product generation and hardware design, not an identified software update. Padhiar describes the SAMA 7000 as sitting between the SAMA 5000 and SAMA 8000 in Sonodyne’s lineup, with top-firing drivers and a 10-inch wireless subwoofer among the visible changes. He characterizes the bar as slim, black and about 44 inches wide by 2.5 inches high, with a front scrolling display. These are the reviewer’s observations, rather than dimensions from Sonodyne’s specification sheet.

Sonodyne specifies a 5.1.2-channel system: five full-range soundbar drivers serve the left, centre, right and side-firing surround channels, while two two-way height channels fire upward. A high-excursion 10-inch wireless subwoofer handles bass. That dedicated height hardware distinguishes the layout from a conventional stereo bar relying only on virtual surround processing.

How does the SAMA 7000 sound?

Dialogue and film sound

Padhiar’s clearest reported strength is dialogue intelligibility. He writes, “Where the SAMA 7000 does not compromise is dialogue.” He also describes an expansive film soundstage. Those are review impressions, not results of testing by this publication.

  • Simplified 5.1ch Dolby Atmos Setup: Enjoy immersive 4D sound with real Dolby Atmos and 5.1-channel audio. Five built-in speakers, including two side-firing drivers, create wide surround without rear speakers. Precision DSP ensures <0.5 ms latency for smooth, theater-like sound. Setup takes less than 1 minute.
  • Voice Clarity Enhancement: VoiceMX technology uses advanced DSP algorithms to isolate and enhance vocal frequencies in real time. Dialogue remains crisp and easy to follow by separating speech from background effects and music, even at low volumes or during intense scenes.
  • 300W Output with 6-Driver System: Featuring five precision-tuned full-range drivers and a dedicated wired wooden subwoofer, the system delivers up to 300W of peak power for bold, room-filling sound. With a frequency response of 45 Hz–18 kHz and a maximum SPL of 99 dB, it reproduces everything from subtle nuances to explosive cinematic effects.
  • 18 mm High-Excursion Driver: Powered by BassMX technology, the wired wooden subwoofer features a 18 mm high-excursion driver, a 5.3L tuned cabinet, and a high-density magnetic circuit. This design delivers deeper, tighter bass with greater air displacement and enhanced low-frequency performance—bringing more realism to every scene.
  • HDMI eARC for True Dolby Atmos: HDMI eARC supports up to 37 Mbps of bandwidth, unlocking the full potential of lossless Dolby Atmos 5.1-channel audio. Compared to standard ARC, eARC delivers richer surround effects and greater detail. CEC integration allows the TV and soundbar to work together with unified control.

Bass and placement

The reviewer calls the wireless subwoofer punchy and says it has headroom except in very large living rooms. He recommends experimenting with its placement, since where the subwoofer sits can affect the bass you hear.

Height effects and room acoustics

The up-firing height effects are most effective when the ceiling is not very high, according to the review. Reflective rooms and bright recordings can also make high frequencies feel more prominent. Room shape, ceiling height and surfaces therefore matter when deciding whether the Atmos presentation will suit your space.

What are the trade-offs?

The SAMA 7000 offers several wired input options, but Padhiar notes it lacks AirPlay and Bluetooth Apt-X. He also describes a basic control experience: there is no on-screen display, the remote is not backlit, and the remote cannot adjust the up-firing height channels independently. He identifies subwoofer level as an adjustable level.

For an iPhone or Apple TV playback scenario, the reviewer recommends disabling Apple’s “Reduce Loud Sound” option. That advice relates to the Apple playback setup he discusses; it should not be treated as a universal setting for every source or installation.

The prices below are arithmetic based on the 91mobiles review’s dated Rs 74,999 SAMA 7000 price and its stated price differences; they are not independently verified current prices.

Is the SAMA 7000 a good fit for your room and devices?

TVs, consoles and streaming devices

Sonodyne says the system works with modern TVs through HDMI eARC, HDMI, optical and AUX. It also says the HDMI input accepts 4K/60Hz video with Dolby Vision passthrough. Check the specific ports and formats supported by your TV, console or streaming device, and consult the manufacturer’s product page and linked manual for connection details.

Large rooms

Although Sonodyne’s product information presents the system as suitable for large rooms, Padhiar’s listening assessment is more qualified: he says the subwoofer has headroom except in very large living rooms. Room size alone does not determine the result, but buyers with an especially large space should weigh that limitation alongside the room’s shape and ceiling.

Verdict

The SAMA 7000 is a hardware-led step up to a 5.1.2 layout, with dedicated up-firing height channels, an 850W published output rating and a 10-inch wireless subwoofer. Padhiar’s review reports strong dialogue, a wide film presentation and punchy bass, while pointing to room acoustics, limited height-channel adjustment and missing AirPlay and Apt-X as compromises. It is most compelling for a buyer who wants wired connectivity and physical Atmos height drivers, and whose room can make use of the up-firing effect. Treat Rs 74,999 as the review’s 2 October 2026 price report, and confirm present-day price and availability before buying.
