Songs of Glimmerwick launched on Steam on September 30, 2026. Its new extended gameplay video is meant to show prospective players what the witch-academy RPG is like: music is how you cast spells, alongside classes, gardening, friendships and exploration. Steam lists a demo, and the developer says it will remain available.
Watch the launch video to see how the game plays
Eastshade Studios describes the video as “a 3 minute plain and honest explanation of what it’s like to play the game,” intended to help players know what they are getting. It is an extended gameplay launch video embedded in the studio’s September 30, 2026 announcement. That description is the developer’s framing, not an independent assessment of the video or the game.

The premise is a story-driven witch academy RPG set around a magical university on a woodland island. You arrive already enrolled at Glimmerwick’s university of magic, where music is central to both spellcasting and everyday activities.
Music is the magic system
Rather than treating music as just a soundtrack, the developer says players use songs to cast spells. Ancient songs also help with gardening and exploring the island. The in-game flute and songbook are tools for those mechanics; they do not indicate that players need a real-world instrument or accessory.
