Sonali Kulkarni celebrated The Paradise crossing the ₹100 crore mark in reported India box-office collections by cutting a chocolate cake with paparazzi on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The milestone comes as the film draws mixed, intense reactions—not as proof that audiences or critics have responded uniformly positively.

What Sonali Kulkarni said at the celebration

Videos posted on social media showed Kulkarni cutting a chocolate cake with paparazzi. Hindustan Times quoted her saying: “Super happy. Cheers on ₹100 crores, cheers on The Paradise and cheers on my song Sammakka. Thank you everyone. Thank you so much. The Paradise is doing really great.”

Kulkarni plays Sammakka, a community leader in the film. Her remarks celebrated both the reported box-office milestone and her song, “Sammakka.”

What The Paradise has reportedly earned

Hindustan Times and India Today reported ₹108 crore in India collections for the film’s first week and a ₹158 crore worldwide gross. Hindustan Times also reported a ₹34.65 crore first-day India collection. These are press-reported totals; the cited coverage does not establish them as independently audited figures.

India collection ₹34.65 crore Hindustan Times, first day
India collection ₹108 crore Hindustan Times and India Today, first week
Worldwide gross ₹158 crore Hindustan Times and India Today, first-week reporting

The ₹100 crore celebration refers to India collections; it should not be confused with the separately reported worldwide gross. The reports give the first-week totals but do not provide a review score or a systematic measure of audience sentiment.

Why the film has drawn “extreme” reactions

Nani, who plays Jadal, said he expected strong reactions but was surprised by how contrasting they were on social media. NDTV quoted him: “I knew the film could get extreme reactions, but I didn’t expect so many contrasting reactions on Twitter and Instagram.” He described the criticism as passionate and honest.

Director Srikanth Odela also acknowledged the mixed response. As quoted by NDTV, he said: “I feel blank. I still need some more time to process and understand the mixed reactions.” Those comments help explain the “extreme reactions” framing: the discussion has included sharply different responses, not a single consensus.
