Both the ASRock H81M-VG4 and ASUS H81M-CS are Micro-ATX-class motherboards, not Mini-ITX. ASRock specifies the H81M-VG4 as “Micro ATX Form Factor,” while ASUS lists the H81M-CS as “uATX Form Factor,” its terminology for Micro-ATX.

What the labels mean
ASRock H81M-VG4
ASRock’s official specification explicitly identifies the board as Micro ATX. The 7.5 × 6.7-inch measurement belongs to the cited R4.0 specification, so do not automatically apply it to every hardware revision sold under the H81M-VG4 name.
ASUS H81M-CS
ASUS uses “uATX Form Factor” for the H81M-CS. uATX is the manufacturer’s naming used here for the Micro-ATX class, and ASUS lists the board at 7.5 × 7.0 inches.
Why these are not Mini-ITX
Mini-ITX is a smaller motherboard form factor. Neither manufacturer classifies these models as Mini-ITX; the official form-factor fields settle the question more reliably than the “H81M” model prefix or a visual guess from photographs.

Check the case before buying
A Micro-ATX label does not guarantee that every enclosure will fit either board. Before purchasing or reusing a case, verify all of the following against the exact motherboard revision:
- The case explicitly supports Micro-ATX or uATX motherboards.
- The standoff and mounting-hole pattern matches the board.
- There is sufficient clearance for the CPU cooler, graphics or expansion cards, power supply, storage devices, and cable routing.
- The case’s rear I/O opening and expansion-slot arrangement suit the installed board.
If you are shopping for an enclosure, search for a case described as supporting Micro-ATX; then read that model’s own compatibility specifications rather than relying on the category name alone.

Legacy-platform context
These are older Socket 1150 platforms. The ASRock specification lists support for Intel Socket 1150 processors, DDR3/DDR3L memory, and PCI Express 2.0 expansion; ASUS also identifies Socket 1150 support. Check the complete CPU, BIOS, and memory compatibility lists for the specific revision before selecting replacement parts.

ASRock’s R4.0 listing identifies the H81M-VG4 as discontinued in April 2022, and ASRock notes that availability may vary by market. Those details apply to that listing and do not change the board’s form-factor classification.

Bottom line
The ASRock H81M-VG4 and ASUS H81M-CS are both Micro-ATX-class motherboards. Neither is Mini-ITX. Use the exact revision’s dimensions and the case manufacturer’s mounting and clearance specifications to confirm a particular build.
