Snowflake and Anthropic announced a multi-year, $200 million partnership expansion on December 3, 2025, aimed at bringing Anthropic’s Claude models deeper into Snowflake’s enterprise AI environment and jointly selling AI-agent solutions to businesses. The companies say Claude is available to Snowflake customers through Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure. The agreement is an enterprise software and go-to-market partnership—not a consumer product launch—and the announcements describe intended capabilities, not independent proof of broad customer results.

What the $200 million agreement covers

The agreement expands an existing relationship in which Snowflake customers were already using Claude through Snowflake Cortex AI. In their December 3, 2025 announcements, the companies described a multi-year commitment valued at $200 million and a joint global go-to-market effort focused on enterprise AI agents. Snowflake said Claude would be available to more than 12,600 of its customers across Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Vertex AI, and Microsoft Azure. That is the customer population the announcement says could access the models, not a count of active Claude deployments.

Snowflake also said thousands of its customers were processing trillions of Claude tokens per month through Cortex AI at the time. That usage figure comes from the companies’ announcement; it is not an independently audited customer-level measure. Read the terms and product descriptions in Snowflake’s announcement and Anthropic’s announcement.

How Claude fits into Snowflake

Snowflake describes Claude as supporting Snowflake Intelligence, Cortex AI functions, and Cortex Agents. The proposed value is to let businesses apply Claude to enterprise data while working within Snowflake’s existing security and governance context. The companies position Horizon Catalog as part of the governance and responsible-AI controls. These are vendor descriptions of the architecture and intended safeguards; they should not be read as an independent certification or a universal guarantee that data never leaves a Snowflake boundary.

Tasks the companies say it can support

  • Natural-language analysis: Ask questions about structured and unstructured enterprise data and receive analysis in ordinary language.
  • Multi-step work: Use agents to retrieve information and reason across enterprise data to support a workflow.
  • Multimodal analysis: Work with text, images, and audio, according to the announcements.
  • Development and business workflows: Apply Claude to coding, customer support, financial analysis, cybersecurity investigations, data applications, and sales intelligence.

In this context, “agentic AI” refers to systems intended to handle multiple steps and work across data-grounded tasks. It does not mean an agent can safely make every business decision or execute actions without human oversight. The releases describe capabilities and use cases, not a guarantee of autonomy or successful deployment for every customer.

What the customer and performance figures do—and do not—show

Anthropic reported greater than 90% accuracy on complex text-to-SQL tasks, citing Snowflake internal benchmarks. This is a company-reported result for a specific task and benchmark, not an independent evaluation, a general accuracy rate for enterprise agents, or a promise of production performance.

Snowflake’s June 1, 2026 update described further Claude adoption and co-innovation, naming Basis, Block, Carvana, eSentire, Indeed, and Notion among customers. It cited examples spanning customer support, financial analysis, life-sciences research, developer productivity, sales intelligence, and cybersecurity investigations. These are vendor-reported examples; the update does not establish independently measured outcomes across the partnership. See Snowflake’s June 1, 2026 update.

The same update said Claude powers Snowflake Cortex Code and Snowflake Intelligence. Snowflake reported more than 7,100 users for Cortex Code, calling it its fastest-growing product ever. That is a Snowflake-reported Cortex Code user count, not the number of customers using Claude under the $200 million agreement.

What the partnership means for enterprise buyers

The announcements frame the partnership as a way to bring Claude’s reasoning capabilities closer to data already managed in Snowflake, while giving customers routes through the three named cloud platforms. The appropriate route and safeguards depend on a customer’s architecture, workload, and governance requirements; the announcements do not provide a comparative assessment of the cloud options.

For a buyer evaluating a use case, the practical questions are whether the specific task works reliably on the organization’s data, what controls govern model access and agent actions, and how results will be reviewed. The partnership announcements do not publish comparative pricing, latency, or independent accuracy data across Bedrock, Vertex AI, and Azure. They also do not demonstrate that every Snowflake customer has deployed agents in production.
