Neither chip is a clear overall winner in the available comparison data. Apple’s A18 leads the cited Geekbench 6 CPU results, while the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 leads the listed AnTuTu 11 and two 3DMark graphics results. Those figures come from different kinds of tests and, in some cases, different operating-system platforms, so they do not establish which chip makes a better phone. For a buying decision, compare the specific handsets as well as their processors.
At a glance: which chip comes out ahead?
| Comparison | Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 | Apple A18 | What the figures show |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geekbench 6 single-core | 2,072 | 3,431 | A18 leads in the listed CPU aggregate. |
| Geekbench 6 multi-core | 6,649 | 8,638 | A18 leads in the listed CPU aggregate. |
| AnTuTu 11 total | 2,314,417 | 1,972,476 | Snapdragon scores higher in this listing, but the source warns Android and iOS results are not directly comparable. |
| 3DMark Steel Nomad Light | 1,688 | 1,579 | Snapdragon scores higher in the database listing. |
| 3DMark Solar Bay | 7,641 | 6,750 | Snapdragon scores higher in the database listing. |
| Maximum memory bandwidth | 76.8 GB/s | 60 GB/s | Reported platform specifications; bandwidth alone does not predict app speed. |
Benchmark figures in the table are NanoReview comparison-page aggregates accessed October 7, 2026; the Geekbench 6 listing includes 50 Snapdragon samples and 6 A18 samples. Scores can change as submissions update, and the sample counts are uneven. The AnTuTu comparison has an additional platform limitation: NanoReview explicitly cautions that Android and iOS scores are not directly comparable. See NanoReview’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 vs Apple A18 comparison.
What the CPU benchmarks say
In NanoReview’s Geekbench 6 aggregate, the A18 leads both single-core and multi-core: 3,431 versus 2,072 in single-core and 8,638 versus 6,649 in multi-core. That makes the A18 the stronger of these two chips in this particular CPU comparison, but the result is based on a much smaller A18 sample than Snapdragon sample.

What the graphics results do—and do not—show
The comparison page lists higher Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 results in 3DMark Steel Nomad Light (1,688 versus 1,579) and Solar Bay (7,641 versus 6,750). These are the database’s reported results, not a controlled comparison of otherwise identical phones. They indicate an advantage for Snapdragon in those listed graphics tests, but they do not prove that every Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 handset will run every game faster or sustain higher frame rates for longer.
Phone cooling, power limits, firmware, screen resolution and the game’s own optimization all influence practical graphics performance. To assess sustained gaming, look for tests of the exact phones under comparable conditions, rather than relying on chip-level scores alone.

The CPU, process, GPU and bandwidth figures are specifications reported by NanoReview; they should not be read as independent predictions of overall speed. In particular, a smaller process number or higher bandwidth does not by itself establish better performance in a particular app. Qualcomm describes the Snapdragon platform’s capabilities, but implementation can differ between handset makers. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 product page gives a CPU clock of 3.2 GHz and describes its own platform features.

Why chip scores do not decide which phone to buy
The A18 is found in iPhone 16 models, while Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 appears in Android phones such as the POCO F7. A chip comparison is not a controlled iPhone 16-versus-POCO F7 test: the phones differ in design, software, cooling, screen and power management. Apple’s iPhone 16 product page describes the device, while 91mobiles lists the POCO F7 with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. Apple iPhone 16 specifications; 91mobiles’ iPhone 16 and POCO F7 comparison.
- For CPU-heavy work: the cited Geekbench 6 aggregate favors A18, with the qualification that the sample counts are uneven.
- For the listed graphics tests: the cited 3DMark results favor Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, but they do not establish sustained gaming performance across devices.
- For platform choice: decide whether you want iOS or Android and compare the handset features and software you will actually use.
- For battery life, thermals and cameras: use reviews of the specific phone models. The cited chip scores do not settle these device-level questions.
Verdict
Choose based on the phone, not a single benchmark winner. The available numbers give A18 the edge in the cited Geekbench 6 CPU aggregates and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 the edge in the listed AnTuTu 11 and 3DMark results. Because the tests have different scopes and the available results are not a controlled handset comparison, they do not establish an overall real-world performance winner.
