The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 is a premium Android mobile platform announced by Qualcomm on October 24, 2023. Its standard configuration has an eight-core CPU, an Adreno GPU, and dedicated AI, imaging, and modem components—but there is no single benchmark score that applies to every phone using the name. The handset’s exact chip variant, cooling, power settings, and test conditions matter.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 specifications
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Mobile Platform Product Brief, Rev. D, describes this standard CPU layout:

The brief also describes display, camera, wireless, audio, memory, and gaming capabilities. These are platform-level features, not a promise that every phone enables every capability or performs identically. There is also a six-core configuration
Qualcomm identifies a six-core CPU configuration, part number SM8650Q-AB, on its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 product page. Treat it as a distinct configuration: the standard 1+5+2 core arrangement and its listed clock speeds should not automatically be attributed to every product marketed as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Qualcomm also notes that CPU speed varies by platform version and FP16 support varies by SKU.

What Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 benchmark scores mean
A benchmark result belongs to a tested handset and a specific test version, not to the chipset name in isolation. Phone design, cooling, power profile, software, and test conditions can affect a result. For a useful comparison, use the same benchmark version and compare similar devices and conditions; a score alone does not establish battery life, sustained performance, thermal behavior, or everyday speed.
For example, Notebookcheck’s device table lists an AnTuTu v9 total of 1,650,926 for the Asus ROG Phone 8 Pro. That is a result for that named phone and benchmark version—not a guaranteed or universal Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 score. Which phones use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3?
At launch, Qualcomm named ASUS, Honor, iQOO, MEIZU, NIO, Nubia, OnePlus, OPPO, realme, Redmi, RedMagic, Sony, vivo, Xiaomi, and ZTE among brands expected to adopt the platform. That announcement described expected adoption, not a complete or current catalog of released models. Check a phone maker’s specifications for the exact chipset and regional variant.

One clearly identified example is the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6: Qualcomm said in July 2024 that both use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy globally. - Exact chipset variant: verify whether the phone uses the standard configuration or a distinct variant such as SM8650Q-AB.
- Benchmark and version: compare like with like—for example, the same Geekbench or AnTuTu version.
- Tested handset and settings: note the model, software, and power or performance mode reported with the score.
- Long-load behavior: a short benchmark result does not show whether performance holds during extended gaming or other demanding work.
- Enabled features: confirm handset-specific camera, display, wireless, memory, and gaming capabilities in the OEM’s specifications.
Qualcomm characterized the chip at launch as “our first mobile platform meticulously designed with generative AI in mind.” That is Qualcomm’s description of its design intent, not an independent benchmark or a guarantee of a particular AI feature in every phone.
