The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series is described in third-party listings as an eight-core smartphone chip with Oryon Gen 3 CPU cores, Adreno 840 graphics, LPDDR5X memory and Snapdragon X85 connectivity. Its published benchmark results are preliminary and tied to specific devices: NanoReview lists fewer than three Geekbench 6 samples, while Notebookcheck’s Geekbench 5.5 figures are for a Xiaomi Poco F9 Pro. Treat the specifications and scores below as reported data, not confirmed Qualcomm specifications or guaranteed performance in every phone.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V: Specifications and Benchmark
Third-party sources use the name “Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series.” NanoReview identifies the model as SM8850-1-AB. Qualcomm’s linked product page was not accessible in the available evidence, so the V Series name and technical details here are not independently confirmed against an accessible manufacturer specification sheet.
What are the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series specs?
The reported CPU configuration has two Prime cores and six Performance cores. Published clock figures differ slightly: NanoReview lists 4.61 GHz and 3.63 GHz, while Notebookcheck rounds these to up to 4.6 GHz and 3.6 GHz.

| Specification | Reported detail | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Model name and number | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series; SM8850-1-AB | NanoReview; third-party listing |
| CPU | Eight Oryon Gen 3 cores: 2 Prime and 6 Performance | NanoReview |
| CPU clocks | Prime: up to 4.61 GHz; Performance: up to 3.63 GHz | NanoReview; Notebookcheck reports up to 4.6 GHz and 3.6 GHz |
| Process and manufacturer | 3 nm; TSMC | NanoReview |
| GPU | Adreno 840; Notebookcheck calls it Adreno 840 V Series and describes the configuration as reduced relative to the standard chip | Third-party descriptions; GPU configuration is not established by an accessible Qualcomm specification sheet |
| Memory | LPDDR5X at 5,300 MHz; maximum bandwidth 84.8 GB/s | NanoReview; 91mobiles also lists 84.8 GB/s |
| Connectivity | Snapdragon X85 modem; Wi-Fi 7; Bluetooth 6.0 | NanoReview |
| Other listed capabilities | Hexagon NPU; maximum 8K video capture at 60 fps | 91mobiles; listed platform capabilities do not guarantee implementation in a particular phone |
These are database and media listings, not proof that every phone using the chip supports every listed feature. Phone makers determine how platform capabilities are implemented in each device. In particular, Notebookcheck’s description of a reduced GPU configuration is its account; the available evidence does not establish that the V Series GPU is equivalent to, or differs in a precisely measured way from, the regular Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 GPU.

How to interpret the benchmark figures
Keep benchmark versions separate
Geekbench 5.5 and Geekbench 6 use different versions, so their scores should not be combined into a single ranking or compared as if they were interchangeable. Compare single-core with single-core and multi-core with multi-core within the same benchmark version.

Scores describe a run, not every phone with the chip
Notebookcheck’s Geekbench 5.5 figures are tied to the listed Xiaomi Poco F9 Pro. Results in another phone can differ because of cooling, software, power limits, memory and device configuration. A processor listing alone cannot guarantee a particular handset’s score.

Account for the small sample
With fewer than three Geekbench 6 samples listed by NanoReview, the available figures are too sparse to support a dependable device-independent ranking or a claim about typical performance. When comparing phones, use results from the same benchmark version and similar device classes, and check the handset and sample count alongside the score. Evaluate GPU performance separately from CPU scores.
