In 91mobiles’ reported comparison, the Dimensity 8500 Extreme entry scores higher in AnTuTu overall and Geekbench multi-core, while Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 edges ahead in Geekbench single-core. Those are comparisons of reported device records, not a controlled, matched test of the two chips. For a buying decision, compare the actual phones’ cooling, software, battery, features and price—not just their processor names.
First, what does “Dimensity 8500 Extreme” mean?
The name needs qualification. 91mobiles labels its comparison entry “Dimensity 8500 Extreme,” but the reviewed explainer says MediaTek’s product and launch materials use “Dimensity 8500.” The available sources do not establish that “Extreme” is a separate official chip variant. The specifications below therefore describe the 91mobiles comparison entry and, where relevant, MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 materials; they should not be read as proof of a distinct Extreme SKU. iTechGuides’ Dimensity 8500 explainer discusses the naming distinction.
How the reported benchmark scores compare
91mobiles’ comparison page, accessed in October 2026, reports these results for its Dimensity 8500 Extreme entry and Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 comparison record. They are source-reported figures; the page does not establish matched phones, benchmark versions, software, memory, cooling or power settings. See the 91mobiles comparison.
| Benchmark | Dimensity 8500 Extreme entry | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 |
|---|---|---|
| AnTuTu overall | 2,217,003 | 1,450,949 |
| AnTuTu CPU | 674,234 | 376,759 |
| AnTuTu GPU | 681,406 | 489,792 |
| AnTuTu memory | 379,554 | 335,562 |
| AnTuTu UX | 481,809 | 248,836 |
| Geekbench single-core | 1,759 | 1,826 |
| Geekbench multi-core | 7,054 | 4,544 |
What those numbers suggest—and what they cannot prove
Within this reported comparison, the Dimensity entry leads the AnTuTu total and all four listed AnTuTu sub-scores, as well as Geekbench multi-core. Snapdragon leads the listed Geekbench single-core result by 67 points. These results indicate how the records on that comparison page rank; they do not show that every phone using one processor will outperform every phone using the other.

For a fairer real-world comparison, look for same-version benchmark runs and sustained gaming or heat tests on the specific phone models you are considering. Cooling design, performance settings and software can affect results under load, and the cited comparison does not provide matched sustained-gaming or battery tests.
Processor specifications and platform features
| Specification | Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 | Dimensity 8500 comparison entry |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm | 4 nm |
| CPU listed in comparison | 1 Cortex-X4 up to 2.8 GHz; 4 Cortex-A720 up to 2.6 GHz; 3 Cortex-A520 up to 1.9 GHz | 8 Cortex-A725: 1 up to 3.4 GHz, 3 up to 3.2 GHz and 4 up to 2.2 GHz |
| GPU listed in comparison | Adreno 732 | Mali-G720 MP8 |
| Memory | LPDDR5X | LPDDR5X |
| Storage listed in comparison | UFS 4.0 | UFS 4.1 |
| Connectivity listed in comparison | 5G; Qualcomm platform materials also describe an X63 5G modem-RF system and Wi-Fi 7 support using FastConnect 7800 | 5G and Wi-Fi 6E |
The 91mobiles table gives the Dimensity GPU as Mali-G720 MP8, while the explainer describing MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 materials calls it Mali-G720 MC8. The sources use different labels, so the core-count suffix should not be treated as a settled equivalence. The explainer also lists UFS 4 with MCQ for the official Dimensity 8500 materials, rather than the UFS 4.1 shown in the comparison table.

Qualcomm’s product information specifies a maximum CPU clock of up to 2.8 GHz and describes Wi-Fi 7, on-device generative AI support, selected Snapdragon Elite Gaming features and an 18-bit cognitive ISP. These are platform capabilities, not a guarantee that every phone exposes every feature in the same way. A phone maker’s implementation and regional configuration matter. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 product page lists its platform features.

Gaming, battery life and connectivity depend on the phone
Gaming and sustained performance
The Dimensity comparison record’s higher reported AnTuTu GPU score is one data point, not a controlled gaming test. Neither the cited comparison nor the vendor feature pages establish which chip sustains higher frame rates or runs cooler in a particular game. For gaming, check reviews of the exact models for long-session frame rates, temperature and throttling, rather than relying on peak benchmark scores alone.

Battery life and efficiency
The supplied figures do not establish a battery-life winner. Battery capacity, display, cooling, modem conditions and software power management all belong to the handset, and no matched battery test is reported here. Use phone-specific battery testing under comparable conditions to decide which model lasts longer.
Wireless and camera capabilities
Qualcomm describes Wi-Fi 7 support through FastConnect 7800, an X63 modem-RF system and an 18-bit cognitive ISP for Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. The comparison table lists Wi-Fi 6E for the Dimensity entry. Platform support does not by itself confirm the features enabled in a retail phone: verify the model’s specifications, supported bands and regional variant. Likewise, an ISP capability is not a camera-quality verdict; sensors, lenses, image processing and manufacturer choices shape finished photos.

What Qualcomm’s improvement claims mean
In its March 21, 2024 launch announcement, Qualcomm claimed a 15% CPU performance boost and a 45% GPU improvement for Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3. Those are Qualcomm’s vendor claims against the comparison basis implied by its announcement, not independently validated head-to-head results against the Dimensity 8500. They should not be compared directly with 91mobiles’ reported benchmark scores. Read Qualcomm’s launch announcement.
How to choose between phones using these chips
- Compare exact phone models and regional variants. Confirm which processor is installed in the version sold in your market and check supported network bands and Wi-Fi features.
- Look at sustained performance for your use. For demanding games, prioritize long-session frame-rate and temperature testing on the actual phones. For everyday responsiveness, consider both single-core and multi-core performance rather than clock speed alone.
- Check the rest of the handset. Compare memory and storage configuration, cooling, battery, display, cameras and software-update policy. A chipset specification does not determine these phone-level features.
- Weigh the complete offer. Compare current local prices, availability and support commitments for the specific models. The chipset comparison does not establish a universal value winner.
91mobiles’ comparison page names the OnePlus Nord 4 and realme GT 6T as Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 examples, and Motorola Edge 70 Pro 5G and Edge 70 Pro+ 5G as Dimensity comparison examples. Treat these as model references from that page, not confirmation of current availability or configuration in every region.
