The Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 leads the available benchmark comparison, especially in multi-core performance, and Qualcomm lists stronger connectivity and display capabilities for it. The result is suggestive rather than conclusive: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 has fewer than three listed results in each of the named benchmark tests, and phone design can change how either chip performs in practice.

Benchmark results: 6s Gen 4 leads, but the sample is small

NanoReview’s comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026, reports higher scores for the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 in all three listed benchmarks. The 4 Gen 5 has fewer than three samples in each test, so the scores are a snapshot, not a controlled or definitive head-to-head.

Benchmark Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 Samples listed
AnTuTu 11 829,894 624,021 10 for 6s Gen 4; fewer than 3 for 4 Gen 5
Geekbench 6 single-core 1,009 976 7 for 6s Gen 4; fewer than 3 for 4 Gen 5
Geekbench 6 multi-core 2,892 2,250 7 for 6s Gen 4; fewer than 3 for 4 Gen 5

These results point to a clearer advantage in multi-core and overall AnTuTu scores than in single-core performance. They do not establish how every phone using either chip will perform: handset makers select memory, cooling, firmware, and power limits, all of which can affect benchmark results and sustained speed. CPU and graphics: different core mixes, limited direct evidence

CPU configuration

Qualcomm specifies four performance cores running at up to 2.4 GHz and four efficiency cores at up to 1.8 GHz for the 6s Gen 4. NanoReview lists the 4 Gen 5 with two Cortex-A78 cores up to 2.4 GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores up to 2.0 GHz. Both are eight-core processors, but the core count alone does not predict speed; core design, software, cooling, and device power settings also matter.

GPU and gaming

Qualcomm describes an Adreno GPU in the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, while NanoReview identifies it as Adreno 710; NanoReview lists Adreno 629 for the 4 Gen 5. Qualcomm claims 59% better GPU performance for the 6s Gen 4 than for the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. That is not a measured comparison against the 4 Gen 5.

Qualcomm also says the 6s Gen 4 platform can support up to 144 frames per second at FHD+ resolution. This is a platform capability, not a guarantee of a particular game’s frame rate. The game, graphics settings, phone cooling, and thermal behavior determine what a handset can sustain.

However, phone makers choose the actual memory configuration, antenna design, supported bands, display, and camera hardware. A platform’s maximum camera resolution or video mode does not mean a phone will offer it.

Both chips are listed as 4 nm. That shared process label does not establish equal power efficiency or sustained performance; those depend on chip implementation and the complete handset.

How to interpret Qualcomm’s performance claims

Qualcomm reports 36% improved CPU performance and 59% improved GPU performance for the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 relative to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. These are manufacturer comparisons with that preceding 6-series platform, not direct 6s Gen 4-versus-4 Gen 5 results. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 product brief is the source for those claims and the platform specifications.

Which chip should you choose?

Favor the 6s Gen 4 when

  • You want the stronger result in the currently listed AnTuTu and multi-core benchmark data.
  • Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, LPDDR5x support, or an FHD+ display ceiling of up to 144 Hz matters to you.

Compare the actual phones before deciding

  • Look for independent tests of the exact handset models, especially for sustained gaming, heat, and battery life. Chip-level figures do not establish these outcomes.
  • Check each phone’s memory configuration, display, camera hardware, software support, and regional 5G bands rather than assuming the platform maximums are present.
  • Confirm availability by model and market. Qualcomm’s May 7, 2026 announcement named Honor, OPPO, realme, and REDMI as expected Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 device partners for the second half of 2026; that announcement does not confirm that any particular handset is on sale.
