The Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 is the more capable platform on the available evidence: it has a higher maximum CPU clock, a newer listed manufacturing process, 5G support and higher reported Geekbench CPU averages than the Snapdragon 665. The 665 remains an LTE platform with a lower maximum CPU clock. Benchmark figures are pooled results, however—not guaranteed scores for any particular phone.

Specifications are from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 page, Snapdragon 665 page, 6s Gen 3 product brief and 6 Series comparison. Peak modem speeds are platform specifications, not a promise of the speed a phone will achieve.
Which processor is faster?
The Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 has the higher maximum CPU frequency: up to 2.3 GHz, compared with up to 2 GHz for the Snapdragon 665. CPU-Monkey’s comparison, last updated August 5, 2026, also reports higher Geekbench averages for the 6s Gen 3 in both Geekbench 5 and Geekbench 6.

These are CPU-Monkey’s source-reported averages, not scores from a controlled test of matched phones. Its comparison lists many benchmark entries, including 1,989 Geekbench 6 single-core and 1,927 multi-core entries across the comparison. What the process-node difference does—and does not—tell you
Qualcomm’s 6 Series comparison lists the 6s Gen 3 at 6 nm and the 665 at 14 nm. Qualcomm’s individual Snapdragon 665 page conflicts with that comparison, describing the chip as built on an 11 nm process. The published Qualcomm sources therefore do not provide one consistent node figure for the 665.
A smaller stated process node is a platform specification, not a direct measure of how fast or long-running a specific phone will be. It does not, by itself, establish battery life, heat or sustained performance; those also depend on the handset’s design and implementation.

5G and other platform differences
The 6s Gen 3 includes Qualcomm’s X51 5G modem system, while the Snapdragon 665 uses an X12 LTE modem. That makes the 6s Gen 3 the clear choice between these two if 5G capability is essential. Actual network access still depends on the phone model, its regional configuration and supported bands; the chipset name alone cannot confirm compatibility with a carrier.

Which one should you choose?
Choose the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 when
- You want a platform with 5G support.
- You prioritize the higher reported CPU benchmark averages and higher maximum CPU frequency.
- You are comparing otherwise suitable phones and the 6s Gen 3 model offers the features, support and price you need.
Consider a Snapdragon 665 phone when
- You are evaluating an existing phone or a used-device option and its overall condition, price and features make sense for your needs.
- LTE is sufficient and the specific phone performs acceptably for your apps.
For either chip, compare the whole phone rather than deciding by processor name alone. Memory, cooling, software, battery, display, camera implementation, network bands and price can change the experience. The CPU scores do not establish which device will sustain gaming better or last longer on a charge.
