Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 has the stronger published feature set, but the available evidence does not establish a reliable benchmark winner over Snapdragon 4 Gen 4. Qualcomm lists a slightly higher maximum CPU clock and Wi-Fi 6/6E support for the 6 Gen 3. Its performance percentages compare it with Snapdragon 6 Gen 1, not the 4 Gen 4. Both are 4 nm platforms with 5G capabilities, and the phone built around either chip can make a substantial difference to everyday performance.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 vs Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 specifications
These published figures describe platform capabilities, not a guarantee that every phone using a chipset implements every feature. Qualcomm’s product pages were accessed on October 7, 2026.

Where Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 has the edge
Higher listed maximum CPU clock
The 6 Gen 3 is specified for up to 2.4 GHz, compared with up to 2.3 GHz for the 4 Gen 4. That small difference in maximum clock is not a direct measure of how much faster a phone will feel: processor design, cooling, firmware and sustained power all affect performance.
Newer listed Wi-Fi capability
Qualcomm lists Wi-Fi 6 and 6E support for the 6 Gen 3, versus Wi-Fi 5 for the 4 Gen 4. Treat this as a platform capability: check the exact handset’s specifications and regional approvals before relying on a particular Wi-Fi feature.

Qualcomm’s performance claims use a different comparison
Qualcomm says the 6 Gen 3 offers up to 10% CPU improvement, over 30% improved Adreno GPU performance and over 20% better AI performance relative to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Those are vendor claims against that stated predecessor, not results comparing the 6 Gen 3 with the 4 Gen 4.
What the benchmark evidence can—and cannot—show
A fair chip-to-chip benchmark needs representative phones tested with the same benchmark version, comparable settings and thermal conditions, ideally across enough samples to show variation. The available evidence does not establish a controlled, matched-phone test of these two chipsets.
NanoReview’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 page reports Geekbench 6 results from fewer than three samples and a limited device set. It does not provide a controlled paired test against Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, so it is a weak reference point rather than a definitive ranking. The published maximum CPU clocks and Qualcomm’s claims against Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 do not justify calculating an invented performance advantage for either chip in this matchup.

5G speeds and compatibility
Qualcomm lists peak download speeds of up to 2.5 Gbps for the 4 Gen 4 and up to 2.9 Gbps for the 6 Gen 3. These are vendor maxima, not expected everyday speeds. Actual service depends on the phone’s modem implementation, supported bands, carrier, available spectrum and location. The 4 Gen 4 page’s overview describes 5G, while its detailed modem fields label a Qualcomm LTE Modem; check the specific phone’s network specifications and local-band compatibility rather than inferring support from a chipset name alone.
Camera capabilities are not camera-quality scores
The 4 Gen 4’s Spectra ISP description includes 36 MP capture and multi-frame noise reduction features. The 6 Gen 3’s Spectra Triple ISP description includes simultaneous capture from three cameras and 200 MP single-shot support. These describe platform capabilities; the phone’s sensor, optics and image processing determine the resulting photos.
Charging support does not promise a charge time
Both platforms list Quick Charge 4+ support. Qualcomm says the technology is designed to increase a device charge up to 50% in 15 minutes, but actual results vary by device design. Do not assume a particular phone will reach that figure based on chipset support alone.

Compare exact phone models and market variants, not just processor names. A platform lists what a manufacturer can implement; it does not settle the finished phone’s overall performance, features or value.
- Memory and storage: Check the RAM and storage configuration of the exact model. The platform specifications alone do not establish what a retail handset includes.
- Sustained performance: Look for tests on the specific phone that identify the software version, benchmark, settings and thermal conditions. Peak clock alone does not show whether performance holds during extended use.
- Display: Compare resolution and refresh rate on the phone’s own specification sheet.
- Battery and charging: Compare measured battery life where available, battery capacity and the charging rate actually implemented by the manufacturer.
- Cameras: Evaluate the phone’s camera hardware and processing rather than treating megapixel or ISP capability as a quality guarantee.
- Software support and price: Check the manufacturer’s update policy, current regional price and availability for the exact variant.
- Connectivity: Confirm local 5G bands, Wi-Fi implementation and SIM configuration for the model you plan to buy.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 specifications, Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 specifications and Snapdragon 6 Series listing provide the platform details behind the comparison.
